My dad went to check my trap about 3pm and said it was empty but need re-baiting.I loaded up my bucket of bait, headed to the trap when I got off work. (dark 8pm)Coming down the hill I see a black streak run through the woods close to my trap, I am pissed b/c I thought if I had any bait in the trap I might have caught that hog. I pull up to the trap and see 5 piglets in there (I decide to shoot em w/my .22 S&W auto,I step out of the jeep and the black streak is headed my way. (I almost shat my pants). I jumpback in grab .40 and shoot out window (homeboy style). I must have got lucky and killed it b/c she didn't come back when I emptied the trap, but I sure didn't go into the woods to trail her. That may have been my most scary moment in the woods.

LOL hog traps are dangerous.
I had a coon attack me that I had to stop a 'charge' last month.

I had one a couple months ago charge at me in the dark in my yard. Made me shite! Passed within 5' of my arse. Come to find out that my son was baiting Dove in the yard. I had to put an end to that crap!

Not from me Oh, he didn't hunt them. I do have my standards.

I never had a hog chase me. I never heard of someone being chased by a hog. Was this hog actually headed right at you ready to do you dammage? Hog danger level so over rated.

You might want to invest in some of these.

Yes...He drove down a hill to his hog trap. Prior to getting there, a black hog ran near the trap. He drove the Jeep to the trap and found 5 piglets. He got out of the Jeep to get the piglets out.
Reading is your friend...left to right, top to bottom

too bad he didn't have a Judge on him. 410 his arse!

I think its very unsafe to just be shooting at black streaks.

potentially very unsafe to be shooting at white streaks too.

I generally agree.

I have had three such encounters though in the mere 5 yrs I have been hunting.
1) A non wounded sow spotted me at 20 yards while I was walking back from my stand charge two yards and then stand its ground just before I put a .308 through its skull (the shot scared its very young piglets that were not initally visible in the brush just behind her)
2)A 180 lb boar spun around and charged at two of us from 80 yards out after my buddy hit him in the shoulder with a .270. As he fumbled with his bolt the hog closed 40 yrds. Realizing he was not going to get the second shot off I put the boar down with two shots from my SKS. The first hit him low in the chest which stopped his charge but he was still standing. The second evacuated his cranium.
3) Walking in to duck blind and two of us jumped 5 or 6 100 pounders. They scatterred as we opened fire with goose shot. We both dropped one with our first shots (only about 15 yrds out). My second shot missed its mark, and my third wounded a boar. My buddy's second shot was in the arse of a dissapearing hog and luckly for me he had not shot his 3rd. My wounded boar turned and ran side to side in the dense brush trying to find an exit then turned and ran straight at me. My buddy dropped him at 10 yrds.
A cornered, scared, or injured hog will charge. So will a sow protecting her piglets.
