I just had this discussion yestertday.

What difference does a "ratio" make if Texas produces more total players and signees?

In football, if I've got more quality players on my roster than you, usually I'm gonna win the game.

last time I checked TX has a lot more people. The reality is if you took out the schlubs that go to Tulane, Monroe and Lafayette LA's ratio may not be as solid. But hey, TX has to fill the rosters for North Texas and Rice too...

only 9 guys from Iowa were D-1 for 2011.

I guess. What matters most is LSU won 3 SEC titles, 5 SECW titles and 2 BCS titles in the past decade with the majority of their starters on every team hailing from Louisiana and the same will be true next year and the next etc. There are four BCS schools in both Texas and Florida as well as soon to be BCS TCU and a growing power in UCF. But ratios don't matter. Gotcha.

Agreed, but from the HS Football perspective it seems to mean that there's a better chance of seeing a D 1 prospect in any given game whether he's worthy or not. That means good competition, good programs, talented kids, good coaching, and in general a great state for HS Football. Good fo us!!
