When Ariza comes back do you guys think Pavlovic could start at the 2. I know we might lose some offense but he can't be that much worse offensively then Belinelli and I think it would make us a lot better defensively.

Interesting idea, but I doubt it happens.

hmm, might be worth a shot, but who knows.. Pav, never was that kinda defender, he must've really been working his arse off.. We should try it
I was gonna come in here and berate you, but I read it and thinks the same

Pavlovic started on a team that went to the finals. The Hornets don't have a Lebron though

Belli ain't that great so I don't think it could be that bad.
After seeing the last couple games I really think an upgrade at SG is our biggest need. We really need to find a lights out shooter. I am tired of Belli missing wide open shots when that is his whole role Indus team.
I think this string of games has been very valuable to Smith, Gray, Mbenga, and Anderson.

Belli is about what he's supposed to be. Did you think we were going to trade Juju for an all-star? Seriously, people.

In fact, his 3 point shooting helped keep us in the game last night. Willie Green, on the other hand, is quickly becoming Willie F***ing Green in my household.
Looking back, I didn't realize WFG was 2-4 from behind the arc. I guess the airball and brick at the end of the game just stood out.

No of course not. But I'm shocked we insist on starting the guy we got for JuJu. Belly is not an NBA starter. We got exactly what I'd expect for JuJu - a bench player. But for some reason the Hornets' brass think they got a starter.

he had about 4 blocks last night, but i would just bring him off the bench for ariza.

Belinelli's size/defense and 3 point shooting make him a better fit with the starting lineup. I'm not saying he doesn't need to be upgraded but it's not really hard to understand why he starts considering our roster and Monty/Demps continually stated belief that Thornton is better as a 6th man.
I didn't get to watch much of Pavlovic last night but I was impressed with him against the Lakers. He seemed every bit as adequate on defense as Belinelli and the one thing I've seen him do in highlights and both games with the Hornets is cleanly drive from the perimeter. Belinelli's biggest shortcoming is he can't take people off the dribble when his shot isn't falling. When he drives the lane it happens slow enough that he usually runs into 5 defenders.

Because like most other Hornets fans, your biased towards Green keeps you from actually seeing anything he does good. He's a 2nd/3rd string SG for Christ's sake and he had a good game for being the 2nd/3rd string SG. Get off the dude's nuts.

With all due respect, have you watched Belinelli's defense lately? He gets burned ALL the time (most notably Kobe and Ginobili, but they burn most people). Couple that with the fact that his 3-point shooting has been pretty bad this season, and I think it's time to give Green a shot to start. Is he still a below average starting 2-guard? Absolutely. I think it's worth a shot though, he plays better on-ball defense and is a little better at attacking the rim. I really think Thornton should remain our 6th man, we need his scoring capabilities off the bench.
As for Pavlovic, he's looked decent in every aspect of his game but 3-point shooting so far, but you have to remember that there is a reason the guy was unemployed. I don't really think he's a starting caliber player, but he has played alright thus far.
On that note - Peja's debut with the Mavs:
3-9 for 8 points, 1-6 from long range, 1-2 from the FT line. Way to go Dallas!

I can live with that. I didn't say Belinelli was great, I just see the argument for him being a better "fit" with the starters. The problem is we have 3 bench quality SGs and someone has to start.

The question isn't whether he's starting caliber but whether he can do better than the other non starters we're starting. So far he's done all the little things well, if his shot starts falling he could be better than Belinelli.

green is a +1 scoring threat but a good defender. he shoots a set shot, which is fine if he can come off of screens and whatnot. belli is your most logical starter if your going with a more complete player due to always being around the ball on d and small things. but marcus can can shoot lights out and he is attempting to become a defender. Your My Boy Blue!!!!!

Williams doesn't make changes when things are going bad because he says that is tantamount to blaming one player. And he doesn't make changes when things are going good because he doesn't want to mess with what's working. And he doesn't make changes when things are going so-so because he's an idiot.
So, while I like your idea, I wouldn't count on any changes.

This is where you lost me. I just haven't seen anything from Green that would justify it.
We certainly need to upgrade from Belli, but I don't see Green being that upgrade.
