He needs the US more than we need him.

USA has the best young talent we've ever had, with or without Najar.

If he wants to play in the WC, play for America.

If he wants to battle with Costa Rica and some carribean nations for the final Concacaf world cup spot. play for Honduras.

its an interview they did in spanish
LINK

He says he is waiting for the call and he is going to leave everything on the field for Honduras, the country that saw him grow. then they ask him if they can now officially say that he is going to play for honduras, to which andy responds yes you can say that.

its pretty hard to take something like that out of context

You could argue Rossi has a better shot at winning a world cup playing for Italy. Doesn't mean its the right move.

I'm just wondering why he would deny it?

Different though.

Najar knows he can play for either.

Rossi chose Italy, I'm assuming, knowing that plaing in a World Cup was not a given.

Another difference is that Rossi is more Italian than Najar is American. Just saying.

Both have claims.

Rossi was born in New Jersey, and spent his youth here.

Najar was born in Honduras, and spent his teenage years here.

If Najar chooses Honduras. I'll still hate Rossi more.

If the kid grows up anywhere in the US except for New Jersey. He's playing for the greatest country in the World right now.

disagree

rossi had an italian father and moved to italy like any other prospect, for training

najar came to the US before he was a soccer prospect

It seems similar in terms of the years they spent in each country except Rossi is of Italian descent.

I'm not sure about that. Maybe the kid just made a move based on what he thought would give him a better chance at a world cup? And I know a few kids of Italian descent here in Ohio that would have probably played for Italy over the US if they had the chance.

Not sure about Ohio, but I've spent a lot of time in New Jersey.

People care more about there ancestral heritage there than any other place I've been to in the US. You have 5th and 6th generation American families, that act like they came through Ellis island last week.

I really disagree with you on that though. Najar is definitely more Honduran, than Rossi is Italian.

Agreed. I was saying that Rossi is more Italian than Najar is American.
