Talk about a hatchet job. But fully deserved, IMO. When a good chunk of your team is in the hospital, even if its not your fault, you show up and check on them.
Leach, Mangino and Leavitt were all fired for less than this.

I'm not familar with what Ferentz did here, but locking a kid in a closet is worse than not checking on some one in the hospital

But putting 13 kids in the hospital IS worse than locking one in a closet.

I have no problem with Ferentz not coming back from recruiting in the final week before NSD.

It's not like he is a doctor or would help them in any way.

Between this and the Drug Ring scandal, it's becoming pretty clear that Ferentz is losing control. If he makes it through the off season, next will probably be his last.

Lack of institutional control.

Gotta be canned.

It's amazing how far his stock has fallen since the Cap One bowl win over LSU

I agree with Forde at some level, but he always seems to overreact and make things sound a lot worse than they are

Iowa should just fire Ferentz for this so they can get out of that ridiculous contract they gave him.

He puts together some good teams for Iowa considering the talent they have.

I'd be interested to see what another head coach could do there though. It's almost like everyone uses that as a crutch for Iowa(that they can only win with Ferentz).

Hate to speculate with not a lot of facts, but something more than overtraining or bad sushi happened.

Some good teams but not 3.5 millions dollars good.

Yeah, I've been thinking the same thing. Had to be some kind of supplement to have this many cases. Which would also prompt the program to go into lockdown/hush-hush mode.

Seems to have been overtraining. They have another article up that this is similar to a situation the gamecocks swimming team had back in 07. That was for over training as well.
