I have a friend (Texas fan, if that matters) who claims that Chris Jackson is the best college basketball player ever. I say that he isn't even the best in LSU history, I'd take Pistol Pete or Shaq over Jackson. Thoughts?

He's watched very little college basketball.

Pistol - no doubt for me.
I'd put Chris Jackson above Shaq.

never saw Pistol play at LSU, so it's hard to compare. I'd put Chris >>>>>> Shaq. Chris is the best LSU athlete I've ever seen play in person. The way he just took over a game was truly amazing.

Pistol averaged 44 pts a game in college over 83 games thats 3 consecutive seasons (43.8, 44.2, 44.5 in those 3 years) and averaged over 5 assists per game as well.... This was all without a 3 point line too. No one will ever touch that.

Again wrong..I see what you are doing, BUT the reason we have the assembly center is because of Pete playing at the Cow Palace.
The freshmen games, while didn't include in the final stats, Pete was WAY better than the rest.
With that said, Pete also was as good of a ball handler as anyone EVER including those in the NBA and he was 6'5" ish.
Ask ALL of those NBA guards whose videos they studied growing up, and that would be Pete. he was crossing over people before there was cross over.
Pete ball handler I EVER saw. AND woudl drop dimes from 35 feet. He was UNREAL.

I was young, but i remember the NBA before he was hurt.
With the surgeries they have today, he would have linkely played until he was 35.

Even today, when I make a great shot, I always say..."That's why they call me Chris Jackson kids".

Shaquille, no doubt, had a superior career overall, but Chris was a better college player.

Let's put it this way...the bars around LSU didn't have drink specials centered around Shaq. They all had CJ specials...the more he scored, the cheaper the drinks got. There were a lot of nights where drinks were VERY cheap. Uh...or so I heard (*cough*toldmomnofakeidever*cough*)
