Here's a link to the story: LINK

His profile: LINK

He hasn't received an offer yet, but he has had an in-home and will be taking an OV here in a week or so.

This worries me, but I may be reading too much into it; it makes me think we feel like we're not going to sign CJ or TJ, only Rasco. I would think we'd go after Mickey Johnson if we're expecting to miss out on defensive players, but I'm just not sure. With our numbers so tight, suddenly contacting him like this seems like it says something about our NSD expectations.

If I'm wrong, feel free to chastise and mock me

Briggs won't get more than a grey-shirt offer, which I think he should take

No worries. From what has been said, we may be trying to get him to walk-on. He has a lot of potential with his size and could be another D. Peterson or maybe turn into a M. Colston type receiver. I think the coaches have been talking to him for a while though.

I'd rather get Chucky Hunter at this point.

We will do that either way!

Also, if you think Ole Miss is going to beat out LSU for CJ, then you must be on something

Not to thread hijack, but are you that confident in landing him?

Or, are you saying that it's an MSU / LSU battle?

Most of the experts are predicting him to one of the MS schools. I trust them over what I, or others wearing the P&G glasses, think.

The one thing that was keeping CJ away from LSU was the distance from home. After reading Shea's last article where he basically said that distance is no longer a factor because his mom, as well as himself, feel comfortable in him going to LSU all but seals it

I understand you putting the pieces of the puzzle together that way. My thing was last week or a couple of weeks ago, CJ had a quote that was something along the lines of "50/50 Ole Miss, MSU but LSU is there." (Doesn't make sense I know...) But then, his HS Coach said recently 33/33/33 with all schools. Seeing as how CJ used the "percentages" breakdown before and then the coach did there, it makes me think that CJ actually said that to his coach and we're gaining ground.

Trying not to have the P & G glasses on too much though.. I just HOPE he follows through with his visit next weekend. Best we can hope for at this point.

/End Hijack Sorry OP.

Post has been hijacked, but I think there is a strong chance that Briggs goes to LSU...

Scout Profile

Bump for Briggs Question

Just saw that Scout has Briggs visiting LSU on 1/28/11 and Rivals has him visiting Minnesota on 1/28/11. Which, if either, is correct?

Also, it appears he has offers from BCS schools like Minnesota and Pitt. Would LSU be able to convince him to greyshirt or be a preferable walk-on over these offers?

TIA

He'll be at LSU but doesn't seem to be too high on the grayshirt idea.Maybe this weekend can change his mind.I hope so but if not then good luck to him wherever he lands.I really like him and thought we should have offered him this summer but room is the problem.

Pretty sure Briggs was on a visit this past weekend.
He and Rasco were two of the only ones on the visit not committed to LSU.
