Not always easy to see after a 40pt drubbing in Rupp, but we have talented young guards in Stringer and Turner. I can see Turner being a slightly better Antonio Hudson over his 4 years here.

You got Derenbecker who is starting to look more comfortable as he gets more minutes and Dotson, who I've noticed signifcant improvement over last year (especially athletically, explosion, etc).

The biggest weakness I belive on this team is no true post presence on offense. White has underwhelmed versus lofty expectations and Warren has been dinged up and not as effective. Green has showed marked improvement.

Point being, you bring in O'Bryant next year and he is going to be a huge factor that will free up our young talented backcourt for more open looks and better spacing. We'll have seniors and a more veteran team.

Tough to be optimistic after Saturday peformance, but I see promise in this team and more importantly, in the program.

I don't know a ton about Isaac aside from what I've read about him in the Leesville Daily Reader and some other articles but I don't see why a guy like that wouldn't get a look at point guard. Sure, he's a scorer, but he seems to be a very versatile, athletic guy that isn't afraid to distribute the ball.

TJ wants the best five on the floor and if Isaac can handle the ball and defend he may find himself on the court very early.

We've discussed Isaac in other threads. I like your optimism about him at PG, but I still see him as a wing. I would love for him to be a big point guard, however.

Don't get me wrong he is definitely a wing. But if he is one of the better defenders on the team considering our struggles on the perimeter, he may need to play anywhere that gets him on the court quicker.

Yes, O'Bryant should be an instant key contributor & don't forget Hamilton, the 6-11 transfer who is sitting out this season. Let's hope these 2 can bring some tough, physical inside play to a team badly lacking that.

TJ just needs to keep this exact team togther for 2 years...no attrition...no more Dennis Harris-type situations...no academic issues...recruit big time and not just at Country Day.

He keeps this EXACT team together and next year - I see west title.

I could see the additions, experience and fan base making next year really special.

A true point guard would help tremendously. Who was the last playmaking PG to play at LSU? Livingston, am I forgetting someone?

I hope I am wrong, but to go into Rupp and lose by 40 its hard to be optimistic. By the way UK started 3 freshman. I just do not see it with this group of so called talent TJ is bringing in. IMO the only real player he has signed in 3 years is Turner. The rest of these guys are not SEC caliber players. They are all projects at best.

What people dont see is trent is trying to build it from ground up. When these freshmen and Sophs are jrs and srs, thats when you bring in a possible 1 and done or 2 and done and really start to see things get better. Once Ludwig and Matt are jr/Sr and turner/stringer jr's the foundation will be set.

We are NOT Kentucky nor DUKE, the "good" freshmen we get arent GREAT like thier Freshmen. Ours are good highschoolers with some type of flaw, Stringer is too short, Matt is skinny and slow, Eddie is too thin and not quite big enough to play 3/4. When your roster or 5 on the court is full of flaws then teams can take advantage of it more. If White,Warren ,Green, Dotson were more complete players then teams wouldnt be able to attack the young ones flaws so much.

Its gonna be a steep mountain to climb but I think he's doing it the right way.

Trent proved what he could do with a veteran team, he deserves the chance to build the team from scratch and when this class is jr/sr we should see dividends.

If not, he will be gone and Trent knows the deal.

I hope he's successful and the fans have a product worth supporting. Unfortunately, unless its a winning product the fans are not going to support it with increasing football fees including parking now.

I'm disappointed in the college crowd though - for free entertainment why can't more students show support. Maybe LSU needs to give out some camo tshirts like they did at South Carolina and other marketing deals to get the students more involved.

I see the young team having lots of ups and down, which is to be expected. We played really well against Arky, should have beaten them worse but a good win. That Arky team goes and beats Bama (who I thought was terrible) until Bama goes and beats UK who drummed up by 37 or whatever.

I find it funny that people are complaining that we do not have the same talent that UK has. No top talent wants to go play in front of 1500 quiet fans. No matter how good of a coach or a practice facility the school has. So if LSU cannot find a way to get more people in the seats we will always be an average team that gets lucky every couple of years when all of our talent is jr and srs.

Might get more support even when losing if they could score 80 plus a game.
