Looking back at the last 6 years, the good and the bad, give me your honest opinion on where Les Miles has the program going into 2011. Leave the posi/nega BS out. Just give what you honestly think about the state of the LSU football program in 2011.

I for one have always been a Miles guy, but 2008 and 2009 had me wondering if we were heading south. 2010 was an overachieving year considering the QB situation, but I think alot of credit has to go to Miles. When you look at 2010 as a whole, I think Miles proved himself to being a better game day coach. I think 2011 may very well be the year that defines Les Miles in regards of LSU lore. He has this program in as good of a position, from top to bottom, as a coach can get. If he wins the BCSNC in 2011, he will become the biggest sports figure at LSU since Billy Cannon, but have a 8-3, 9-2 year with this team and public preception might stick like glue.

Thoughts?

The program overall is in excellent tip-top shape, but there is a whole lot riding on the offensive coaching changes that will occur this offseason.

yea Doc, I totally agree, but a change was needed badly. I think this will be a big plus for 2011 on offense.

LSU is in a prime position moving forward. we have a ton of young starting talent, most of which will start for the next two years allowing for our top recruiting classes to compete and grow under some awesome mentoring. We'll be able to reload rather than rebuild for the foreseeable future. Miles will be one of the best to ever coach at lsu especially if he gets another MNC in these next couple years.

I LOVE where the program is right now. Talent is king in CFB and I am glad that LSU is NEVER in a position these days where they are outmanned talent wise. I remember those days when the Miami's and Florida's(and even TAMU) of the world would roll into Tiger Stadium and we had NO real chance to win because of the vast differences in talent level.

It is a great feeling to know that there is no team in CFB today that can put LSU at a disadvantage talent wise. Add to that the fact that Miles shoot from the hip coaching style makes for the most entertaining games I've ever watched, and the fact that we are getting all the national publicity you could reasonably hope for and it's one damn nice package.

Every season for the forseeable future will start with us having a reasonable chance to compete for both the SEC championship AND the NC! I'm very content and only hope that we can maintain.

Man, I was hoping to get some feedback from some fans that weren't confident in Miles too. Do you see that Miles is making changes in order to get better as a coach? I would hope there aren't as many of you out there, that just want to jump on anything bad when it happens. If so, then it has nothing to do with any coach and everything to do with enjoying being a miserable fan. Please correct me if I'm off base.

Very excited. Almost like thet 2007 lead in to that season. Concern over our offensive struggles, wished Ridley was staying and we'll miss Peterson. D is solid - no concerns. Likely Mettenburger starts at #3 in the springs and works his way up to #2 or possibly #1 by fall camp. New OC must put into play some of our explosiveness and ability to move the ball downfield. We are a run first team, and that's what wins championships (along with great D). But we must expand our ability to pass the ball (15-20 yards) - and let the atheletes make a play.

Got a lot of faith in Coach Miles, and know he'll put it together. We should win the West and the SEC (given what's happened in the East). Scam Newton & Fairly gone, Tide lost a lot and Mallett gone. Chief competition may come from MS State - they could be a sleeper.

Figure at least a BCS bowl - Sugar, Orange or NC.

Anybody that was a fan before Saban got here and turned the program around understands that the football program is in the best shape it has ever been.

LSU is one of the top ten programs in college footballs present landscape and has one of the top ten coaches in the FBS IMO. The fans of LSU have the right to expect the team to compete for the West and thereby for the entire SEC each and every year. Some years that will be more realistic than others. 2011 would appear to be one of those years where winning championships is more than just wishful thinking. I'd say it's very near a probability with the current lay of the land in Tiger Town. This could very well be Les' best team ever. That is saying a lot.

I'm not a Miles fan but readily admit the program is sound going into 2011. Crowton leaving, if he was indeed persuaded by Les to seek alternative employment, provides some impetus for hope that miles understood the problem at hand. Still, I doubt if 2011 brings us a season where some coaching breakdown doesn't cost LSU or nearly cost LSU a game or two.

I would say Les Miles tenure has been more about the good and the great as opposed to the good and the bad. Considering the changes in staff and the overall SEC as well as the pressure to win with a completely different team year in and year out that college football brings, I wouldn't say Les Miles has had a bad year.

LSU plays both teams which were in last seasons NCG, W.Virg on the road, BCS bowl game player Arkansas, a Miss St program many see as a real comer on the road, a talented Florida, and Top 10 ranked Bama at Bama.

9-3 or 10-2 with that schedule could would be pretty dang good and not a sign of a problem. imo

Look for LSU to play in the BCS champ game in 2012.

wow, what a loser. Nothing like being satisfied with being mediocre. Barring serious injury to several key players. 3 loses would be a disaster.

No reason this team should not win the SEC West at a minimum.

Pretty damn good

The final AP poll 6 years ago was-
1)Texas
2)USC
3)Penn State
4)Ohio State
5) West Virginia
6) LSU

This year LSU & Ohio State were ranked in the top 10, the other 4 teams were unranked.
