Former LSU Board of Supervisors speaks out on Miles.

quote:

“I’ll tell you this story,” said Weems an interview with Michelle Southern of the Louisiana Radio Network, a sister news organization of Tiger Rag. “When we interviewed Les the first time, I asked him in the interview, ‘Les, if you come to our place and you’re successful and then the University of Michigan comes calling, what would you do?’”

quote:

“And he looked at me in the interview, dead serious, and said ‘Why would anybody leave LSU to go to Michigan?’ I asked him the same thing at dinner the other night at the Cotton Bowl, and he gave me the same answer. So I’m glad to see the man is a man of his word.”

I think that's great and all, but if he felt that way, what's been going on the last 2-3 days?

1. Respect for his Alma Mater and his former teammate.
2. An opportunity to upgrade his deal with LSU, at least in terms of job security.

Neither of which I can criticize him for.

I think this what happened, MAYBE. I wouldn't be surprised if he went along with an interview so as not to embarass Michigan since he would be rejecting them. This makes the job look unworthy of anybody but a loser. I wouldn't be surprised if they use him as an unofficial "appraiser" of talent. Michigan looks good, and they get a first hand account of a coach who might turn the program around. Since Hoke took the job, I am betting that they had some serious questions about him, and they posed them to Miles.

Bingo, we have a winner!! Amazing the number of people here that just don't understand the way of the world. You take the meeting even if you have no intention of leaving for all the reasons stated. Miles is a class guy and handled things upfront all the way. Anyone upset with that is just being silly.
