IMO they are all lame. The closest thing the sec has is florida-florida state. Ou/texas, michigan/osu despise each other and would never root for each other. Id say 90 percent of bama fans were probably going for auburn last night which is pitiful.

I guess I'm lame, because I cheer for Michigan every game but 2 each year. I want them to look really good. Of course, there's no other team I would rather absolutely crush each year, but I would rather crush a top 10 team than a non-bowling team.

Um I live in Big 12 country and pretty much all fans in this area was pulling for Texas when they played USC. I'm in an area with a mixture of OU, KU, Mizzou, Okie St and K-State fans. So much for your OU/Texas talk.

of course you root for them to do good. the reason is because you want to be able to say that they were an elite team when your school beats them. it's the same principle with the SEC pounding their chest when they win championships. The SEC likes to say they are the toughest and their team , when they do good, made it through the toughest

I grew up hating Texas, and the recent BCS won't change that much. I would just hope for them to win if it has a DIRECT impact on my team (conference standings, close title race need the computer boost). That's about it, If you look closely you won't find many older Alabama/Auburn fans that cheer for Auburn/Alabama. The SEC thing is for teams like Vandy to hang their hats on.

I cheered against AU, because frick them. As a GT fan it was hilarious watching UGA lose to UCF. The problem is we have great rivalries across conferences (USC-Clemson, GT-UGA, UF-FSU)

True. He's probably one of those fans wondering why people don't take the Big East seriously or take Boise St and Utah seriously when being considered for the BCS championship game.

I had the rivalry discussion with an Arkansas fan (young) at the Sugar Bowl. Her contention was that LSU was Arkansas' rival because they play every year. I told her it was Texas as LSU is a game the SEC would like to be a rivalry game. She didn't understand. I asked an older Arkansas fan what he thought and here's how he put it.

He'd like Texas to lose every football game they play forever. He'd like LSU to win every game they play except the game with Arkansas. That, my friends is how you define a rivalry. I was ECSTATIC when Michigan got destroyed by MSU because I want Michigan to lose every game they play.

Arkansas and LSU are rivals only in the minds of Arkansas fans. LSU fans view arkansas as a 2nd tier program that won't ever win anything that matters.

as for my Ole Miss hatred, it has little to do with football.
