Alleva is definitely on the hot seat because most fans want Les to stay. If the report is accurate then Les is ours to keep unless Alleva drops the ball. If Les went to Michigan because he could not resist the lure of going to and reviving his alma mater most people would understand. If we know he wanted to stay and all that he asked was for the administration have his back a little and Alleva can't do that then we need to find a new AD.

You don't even know what the terms of the LSU contract to Les were yet you're trying to paint the picture that we botched this thing?

Alleva should be fired if he gives Miles an eight win clause.

Miles put Alleva in this position with the leaked job security ridiculous request.

Get this through your head. NO COACH SHOULD EVERY HAVE A DO NOT FIRE/8 WIN CLAUSE IN THEIR CONTRACT. That's just insane. I hope Alleva doesn't budge one bit on that stupid shite.

Alleva is not going to give Miles the job security is seeking..

Alleva 13 months ago was getting major heat to fire to Miles...

So..one 11-2 season helps a lot, but it doesn't erase memory.

I doubt Nick Saban worries about Job security...

But...if Miles is trying to get some kind of "golden security blanket" so that he's under no pressure when one of his brain farts results in a loss, it's time for Alleva to think about parting ways.

LSU has their hands tied with Les. We may be stuck with him until he resigns.

No I am saying if the report is true that he wants to stay but wants the administration to have his back and they can't do that then yes the administration will have botched it. I am not naive enough to know that a new contract and terms are also involved in the negotiations but if a man wants to stay and the contract terms are within reason but the administration cant commit to having his back during some tough times against the most fickle fan base this side of Tuscaloosa then our administration will have failed miserably.

I wouldn't have a problem with a two or three year clause. Kind of a sliding scale, like the NCAA elgibility requirements. Something like X amount of wins over two seasons. All wins should be counted as regular season only, or else they must be bumped up a game.

Example- 18 wins regular season only.

If LSU goes 9-3 in the regular season in 2011, then Les could not be fired if LSU wins 9 games in the 2012 regular season. However, he's not contractually safe with a 8-4 season.

If LSU goes 10-2 in the regular season in 2011, then Les could not be fired with an 8-4 regular season in 2012.

I have had some dealings with Alleva, as a former coach, he is a meat-head, not very intelligent and attempts to take the "winning" side before he has gathered all the facts. See the Duke Lacross scandal. He is very cavalier about publicly discussing coaches performances and contracts-quite unusual for an AD. We can certainly do better. I knew everyone on the search committee when he was hired, because of the turmoil the University was undergoing and the impending budget crisis caused by the Governor's lust for the whitehouse, we were not able to lure good candidates for the AD position when Skip stepped down.

this is the issue. 8 win clause isn't within reason. i support alleva if he les leaves and this was the issue. protect the program.

If true, Miles isn't asking for some kind of free pass. He's asking for a little insulation from the few morons that support the program. The idiots calling for his head at 6-0, the ones that know nothing about football. He's asking for a tiny bit of protection from those losers. He should get it.
