Pelini- pros: knows the program, got Nebraska outta the dumpster, proved he could be "the guy" at this level. con: he spits when he yells

Sumlin- pros: great offensive coach, could be a recruiting fool for this reason, he's a brutha. Hear me out, there hasn't been a black head coach in thi region at a program as big as LSU, (Miss St. is no LSU). Strong got Bridgewater to go to Lville for Christ sake, check out Miami's recruiting classes the past few years, and I believe he's a far better coach than Shannon or Strong. I'm not sayin hire him because he's black, but it's a huge +. Cons: not enough of a resume as an HC,can he handle a program of this stature
OK u may attack now

What type of guy is Sumlin? I want a guy of high character like Miles was.

I think several people, and by several I mean about 15, will turn down the LSU job before it's offered to Sumlin. The last time we hired a CUSA coach, we had 4 straight losing seasons.

I know hes not "done much" at UH, but the former OC under Stoops at OU coaching tree (Leach, Mangino, Sumlin) has done well, for the most part.

Based on what I've seen of him in these parts, he's a bright guy with a great personality. Time at OU and UH means he's very familiar with recruiting Texas, esp. SE Tx (always important for LSU).

I also think that his race can be a plus, in recruiting and in coach-player relations in general. A solid A-A coach at a program like LSU could be a potential game changer in a very positive way.

I like the idea, especially if he's open to retaining key coaches and personnel, like FW and Chief.

Thank u my man, u get my point. direct pipe line to the Houston area. Frank can hold down all of LA. Plus he runs a helluva offense, which we need.

IF Bo Pelini is having "trouble" with the administration at Nebraska.... and I'd say "yes he is" it's because he is too intense with the players... yells at the refs and is not the right guy on the sidelines to LEAD. He IS a good coach... no question... I just don't think he's going to be able to maintain the delicate relationships that are necessary to stay in good graces at Nebraska - or anywhere else he's the HC.

Sumlin --- another good coach.... sort of wish LSU could get him as an OC... but he's a mid-level HC and in my opionion too much risk for LSU to make that hire as HC (see Curly Halman and Gerry Dinardo) -- whom both had some success at mid-level schools then not much at LSU... granted Denardo did IMPROVE LSU's program... but not to nearly it's potential and had he been retained, I seriously doubt he would have.

All that said... put me in the camp that says Les Miles STAYS at LSU.
