Also be ready to search for the urea that has to be added to the second tank next to the fill up nozzle. First info I am hearing is they are getting about 14 mpg. The urea is about 7-15 dollars a gallon depending on where you buy it and lasts 2-4 thousands miles depending on size of tank. Dodge is the only one of the big 3 that does not have to have the urea because it meets all govt requirements as is.

I have driven one. I loved it. It was very quiet and had lots of pep. I am seriously considering getting one. I have heard the bad things about the urea, but the ford dealership would have it. You can get some when they do an oil change.

I would also pick up an extra gallon to keep in the truck. If you run out while on the road it throws the truck into limp mode. 30% power. And this goes for Chevy also. I hear this new system added about 7K to the sticker price.

Ive read the low urea warning light comes on WAY before you'll even come close to running out. Basically if you run out it was due to your own neglect. However, there is a company making a DPF/Urea delete kit. Sadly I cant afford the truck....or the kit for that matter.

I just purchased a King Ranch on 12/24. Getting about 16.5 avg in town. Will see Thursday what kind of mileage I get on the road driving over to Dallas. I also can't wait to pull camper...going to be great.

The book says it warns you at approximately 300 miles to put more DEF in.

I have heard 300 miles is when the light comes on. So driving back from a deer lease on a Sunday some people could have a problem....or a road trip. But I have heard most big truck stops carry it.

Yes extra planning will always pay off, its just one more thing to keep up with and maintain. The gov't is doing all they can to drive the cost of diesels so high no one will be able to afford to own them or run them.

So you go to a dealer and that 130.00-160.00 for an oil change and if you need to replace filters thats another 40 bucks and then if you need 5 gallons of urea at 15.00 a gallon thats another 75.00...shite adds up quick.

No doubt...but if you're driving a $65k truck and bitching about maintance cost then shame on you.

I have a feeling most people that buy a diesel truck have no clue how expensive maintance or repair costs are. Thats why there are so many on used lots around here.

Its basically the lastest version of a DPF, but now you will have to add Urea to a seperate tank that will mix with your fuel.

Ford and Chevy have this on all 2011 diesels, at this time the new dodge does not require this (except the 4500 series)because it meets all gov't requirements as is.

Everything I have read puts the fuel mileage really high on these thanks to the new 6 speed transmission and no dpf. At 400 hp and 800 ft-lbs of torque that engine is a monster. I also like the factory 5th wheel hitch option. My truck is only 2 years old but man those 2011 superdutys have my drooling.

My cousin got one. Its a beast. Super fast, and even more quiet.

If you don't need the diesel, wait for the 2011 F150. Basically same engine in gas. 6.2L supercharged ecoboost I think. The new 5.0 in the F150 is supposed to get around 22mpg.

the 2011 f150 has a 6.2L option, but its naturally aspirated

the ecoboost engine is a 3.5L V6 that has a slight improvement in gas mileage and even more power than the 5.0 standard V8

the 5.0 has improved mileage over the 5.4 (2010 and earlier), but not sure of the numbers

i bought a 2010 4wd with the 5.4 and its rated at 14 city, 18 highway

i average right in the middle of that based on the computer

I would love to drive a Raptor with the 6.2L
They should make a Raptor like package for the F-250 with the diesel If chevy does go into production with the all terrain concept they will have a winner IMO.

i considered it but just wouldn't consider spending $65k on a truck.

I bought a Tundra instead and love it.

The Raptor is meant to be semi-baja inspired, wide, long travel suspension, etc etc. Slapping a huge/heavy diesel engine in one would kill performance and handling and likely make for a nose heavy, unbalanced truck. Besides Ford already has something like the Chevy all-terrain concept in the Regency conversions.

I was kinda meh on the raptor until I watched top gear a few weeks ago.

That wasn't a stock raptor, but holy shite, it was impressive.
