He should have handled it the same as Les did before the 2007 Sugar Bowl. Les asked to meet with the commentators and when permission was granted he requested that they not talk about Saban taking the Gump job. He told them that the Tiger players had worked very hard to be where they were and that it should be their night and not Saban's. The commentators agreed.
I'm sure that Prick Saban was fuming over not being mentioned.

i agree, seems everyone hates any and all talking heads on espin. i like rece davis. hes a total SEC honk and is funny
my favorite rece davis story: in the 05 peach bowl, they are almost at halftime and they ask the trivia question- something to the effect of: "what LSu coach has the most bowl wins?". they get distracted and never give the answer to the question. they send it to rece in the studio for a halftime preveiw, and before he sends it back he goes: "i believe the answer yall are looking for would be charlie mcclendon." of course he was right, it was epic

The dude is cool. Did you see last night after the game when the female reporter for ESPN grabbed him and he all of a sudden grabbed #11 and said to her, here talk to him and walked away.
