I am thinking about doing this. Not sure where the best is but Brownell's and midway USA both have the parts

By the time you get the jigs to fit the grip safety, fit slide to frame [unless you buy one fitted already], you can buy one. However, if you want to build, buying won't scratch that itch. Brownells is the source for information, parts, and the tools to get it done, I found MidwayUSA wanting on the tools/jigs/fixtures to do this type work, and many of the Brownells folks have built guns too.

Fusion Firearms has some kits with the main parts being prefitted.

STI offers prefitted frame/slides, as does I think several others, they seem to run about $1,400ish, if memory serves.
