I was a freshman in high school, lol. I remember watching that game like it was yesterday! I remember watching that game slowly slip away... and then... THE FUMBLE!!! LOL, remember the signs that year? "Jim Has-Lett us finally win...," and shite like that. Boy, were we wrong about him. After that successful season with the best d-line in Saints history (one of the best defenses besides the dome patrol), he dismantled them. I still think Jeff Blake would have been the better QB during that era. I think we at least would have had more than 1 winning season out of 5... Geaux Saints!

I used to think that it was sad that the greatest moment in team history was a muffed punt by an opposing player.

We never should have gotten rid of Jeff Blake or dismantled that defense.
Yes, the game was slipping away. The Rams would have gotten the ball and driven down the field. Everyone knew it. Hakim dropping the ball is what saved us.
