Baton Rouge - LSU expects to know by Jan. 4 if junior running back Stevan Ridley will be eligible to play in the Cotton Bowl against Texas A&M Jan. 7, Tigers coach Les Miles said Monday.

"On the fourth there will be information (from the NCAA) forthcoming that will give us great direction," Miles said at his media briefing following Monday's practice.

I am assuming they are game planning under the assumption he is not playing. If he gets ruled eligible only 3 days before the game, I wonder how they will work him in. Would be too late to change the gameplan too drastically. And I'd imagine with what Ford brings to the table and Ware, that the gameplan as far as the running game goes will be significantly different than if Ridley were definitely playing. Could be interesting.

Why because we are such a finely tuned offensive machine? Our parts don't matter. We should strive for competence. Fine tuning is a dream.

This is a pretty good advantage for LSU. A&M has to prepare for Ridley, in case he does get cleared to play. If he doesn't get cleared, then they will have wasted some practice time preparing for SR. Now, if LSU is preparing under the assumption he will not play, it gives our other backs more first team reps and they will be more prepared. If he gets cleared, we just do the same thing we've been doing all year with him. Also, A&M won't have much on Ford and Ware, so that's a good thing for us.

he will go pro this season, apparrently his gpa is not high enough to stay at LSU. i am actually looking forward to ford getting a lot of carries, but loosing a thousand yard rusher always hurts your team; at least we have a stable of young running backs

He apparently "cheated" on a test. In a classroom, not a piss test or anything.

And other athletes were involved. But so far Ridley is the only name mentioned.

It can't be proven he did or didn't cheat on the test, hence the appeal.

Yet, if it is ruled he is ineligible, he wouldn't be eligible to practice in the spring. Thus, the majority of people saying he'll go pro.

He's been here for four years, and he's just now having grade problems? I realize courses get tougher the deeper you get in your major, but I thought SR was a decent student?? Just wondering because this is the first I've heard this, but I have been out of the loop the last week or so.

Ford can't do what Ridley does and that is crash the middle and wear the shite out of the defense. We need someone to keep the defense honest for the sake of our QB's.

I'm pretty sure he was part of that group his freshman year that got in a bunch of trouble for cheating.
