Got a gift certificate for Omaha Steaks for Christmas. Going to be buying a fare amount of meat, does anyone have experience with buying Omaha steaks that can give me an idea of what to expect? Also, I'd appreciate some purchasing suggestions and best way to cook them (I'll be cooking on a charcoal grill). Thanks and Merry Christmas!

buy the best they have then order from Anderson Bros in Chicago, there is no comparison. I use Andersons for gifts but there are so many good aged beef places locally I get mine here fresh.

Used to be really good stuff, just average now, but enjoy them nothing wrong with them, and if they were a gift you cant beat the price

I am not even sure if they are choice now?

They are generally not of good quality. Get the filets and wrap them in bacon.

I have only had the fillets from them and they were good. Not sure about their other cuts. I wrapped mine in bacon and grilled.

I order these every year and these are by far the best steaks I have ever had. Great customer service. The steaks are packed very well in a cooler and then shipped to you. I have been a very satisfied customer with them.

I did have a problem once when I had some sent to my father, and something had happened where they had started to defrost. They did send another batch out with some extra steaks on top IIRC.

They usually have "sample packs" that are very decent. Stuffed fish, potato balls, steaks. Filet is my least favorite cut. Go with strips if they have them. I find strips freeze a little better than a ribeye...and their ribeyes are relatively thin.

While you can get better steaks, they are still good and nothing beats free.

To each his own that's for sure.If you like, then enjoy.I have personally found that years ago they were good but now are very mediocre and lower in quality but then tastes change and that is a good thing!!!
