As much as it sucks for Ridley to not play against the Ags (if the ban holds up, that is), this gets us on to the likley future of the backfield a bit sooner as we turn our attention to 2011. The super Sophomores are gonna be fantastic together for the next 2+ years, and the extra reps preparing for the Cotton Bowl and the game itself will serve us well on the way to the 2011 BCSNCG season.

I am so hopeful that Mett will be "all that" and will combine with these 2 great backs. That is an exciting formula to look forward to, indeed.

As much as I like Ridley, i see a bit more potential in Ford and Ware. Ware reminds me of a shiftier Hester (they are the exact same size and build with low hips, etc..) and Ford looks like a classic All-SEC RB.

Of all the positions to lose a starter at LSU...RB is the least problematic. It's a non factor IMO. Insert stud RB...rinse...repeat.

I like those youngsters also but I haven't seen them run between the tackles like Ridley.

I love how LSU fans are always SOOOO excited at the possibility of the best player on offense not playing just so a couple unproven "high ranked" recruits can get more carries.

I don't think it's so much that people are excited. I think people are just saying we'll be OK. Ridley's good and deserved his starting role this year, but we have depth.

Losing him will have an impact, especially in the short term. But, we'll be fine.

I have a different feeling. Ridley is a huge loss regardless of what other backs we have. He's tough and smart and a leader from what I can see. List all the rest, he brings somethng else to the table. It's intangible and ephemeral, but there is something about him being in a game that is GOOD for the team.

Ridley's second efforts kept us in the Arkansas game. He will be missed.

I am confident the replacements can run just fine, I just hope Ware and Ford's youth doesn't shine through in the form of turnovers and missed assignments.

Ford getting a bunch of carries would makes sense, Les usually never follows what we want. So, he'll prob give Blue 15 or so carries and Ford and Ware will get about 5 each.

Although Ford seemed faster. I liked Ridleys ability to stay on his feet adn break tackles. Once going down hill he was a monster. Ford seemed a little stiff to mee and didnt explode on contact. I daw little of Ware but I like him adn his speed adn size.

I hope this gets settled quick to get Ridley back into the game but I think that they shouldn't drastically change anything. Ford was used a lot on the outside to spread the D and Ridley attacked the middle. If Ware could produce what Ridley does then that is there will not be a problem in the bowl.

Continue to let Ford do what he has done best this year.

Ridley is also a good pass blocker.

what ya'll fail to realize is that with Ridley out, neither Ford or Ware will start. Richard Murphy will start in the Cotton Bowl

That means JJ running the option, Murphy trying to run a sweep to the corner, and Blue running up the middle...that should make up for losing Ridley in Miles's mind.

not me - I am a true Ford fan - he is from my home town and I watched him play hs football for two years.

But I was totally satisfied with Ridley this year. I was a little disappointed early on that Ford didn't get any carries when they put Blue and Ware in there - but it was never in stead of wanting to bench Ridley.

Ridley was the real deal this year.
