I am not very familiar with anime or contemporary animated fiction in general. I was considering watching this over the holiday via Netflix Insant.

all of my buddies who enjoy anime have enjoyed that series quite a bit. I've seen a few random episodes here and there and enjoyed what i saw. I'd really like to check out the whole thing once, it's just never really something I think about often though.

I dont usualy watch anime but I saw one episode of this a few years ago. I think it was the first one ever and it was very serious and almost made me cry

I don't like admitting it but I actually do like that series and I don't as a rule watch anime.

If you are going to watch Full Metal Alchemist, make sure you watch the newer series rather than the old one. The Newer one is titled: Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. It is the one that actually follows the manga, where as the old series that completed a few years ago branched off from the storyline after the first few episodes.

I liked it a lot. Is it the original or the Brotherhood version? The latter was darker I believe, and comes on Adult Swim on Saturdays. Both are good though.

The old series is okay and available via Netflix instant but I do agree the newer series is better.

I see, didn't realize there were two different series. Looks like Brotherhood is only available on DVD. Anyway, thanks for the help everyone. I'll watch the pilot of the 2004 series and see if I like it.

The third (I believe) is really the one to watch as it gives the series back story.

The Nina episode was one of the few times I've teared up over an anime/cartoon...
