It's a dark, psychological thriller about obsession, and what it does to someone mentally and physically. Creepy, but not too creepy. Very tense throughout. It's not for everyone, it's very theme domintated and darkly stylish.

If you want hubs to go see it, tell him there's a pretty badass scene with Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis involved in some hot girl on girl action.

As I walked out, I didn't really like it, but it's stuck with me. It's definitely growing on me. I think more film nerds will like it than the general movie goer.

If he likes "stupid" movies, you're in trouble. This movie, by the end, makes no pretense of being realistic. It's a very formalistic movie, and by the end, you'e left to sort out what was real and what was her delusion. I don't mean this as a knock, I quite enjoyed it, but this is not a popcorn flick.

But, Winona Ryder gets hit by a car in it, and that's always a good thing.

Awww, Baloo, why the hate for Winona.

I know I'd love to hit her with something. :notacariwkwim:

A guy from houma was actually a producer for the movie.

Actually, I like Winona, but she has truly squandered he talent. It irritates me that she took her career so unseriously. She hasn't had a real role in forever.

Completely agree with that.

loved this movie. really.

the duality of a ballerina struggling with her own compulsions and dreams and descending into a realm of chaos while reaching the peak of her professional career.

Portman nails it. Hershey nails it. Kunis nails it. Aranofsky turns what could have been a cliched ballet script into something totally different. Something so beautiful has never seemed so oppressive. Something so graceful has never seemed so tense.

This movie haunted my dreams last night.

I hear Kunis and Portman go down on each other. I think I'll check it out.

The lesbian scene is nothing to get excited about. It's a little kissing and then camera trickery. The sexiest scene is Portman's solo, and even that has a pretty f'ed twist.

the movie was a little of a let down for me. it pretty much just mirrored swan lake and wasnt that creepy to me. just a girl going crazy over a role.

SPOILERS (kinda):

and if youve seen aronosky's last movie, the wrestler, the ending is pretty much the same, which i found pretty lazy/weak.

SPOILER

well they're meant to be companion films. but the emotional space occupied by portman and rourke are completely different.

i thought this movie was far greater than the sentimentality of the wrestler (which i still liked)
