Clash of the Titans *Some Spoilers*

I was warned it sucked and yet I watched it anyway. 
I am usually pretty accepting of directors changing up story lines of movie remakes or of movies based on events but this was a pretty drastic change. Even the original reason of him wanting to save Andromeda wasn't there.
In addition, all the scenes were just blips on the overall movie. Every part was pretty much filler to get to the end. In the original, the medusa scene was setup to create fear, panic and test Perseus's courage. As with most other scenes, this one just told the story without creating any suspense.
The entire movie seemed like the director just was rushing to get to the end to show off the Kraken. Although the Kraken was the climax of this movie and the original story, everything else was devoid of development. It also took over 5 minutes to actually show the Kraken.
The movie could have been epic but instead goes on the turd pile.

Then I made a conscious effort to watch the movie on it's own merit. Then I really enjoyed it.

I tried judging it based on it's own merit and it still does not stand up. The fact that there is no character development, no suspense, no clear plot and barely cohesive dialogue couldn't be overlooked.
The djinn? Really?
There addition was pure garbage but it was outdone by the fact that after fighting the big bad scorpions and killing a few, they were turned into pack animals.
The script needed some serious editing and rewrites.

Man, you guys are some kind of critical when you are watching a movie about giant scorpions, snake headed women, and flying horses.

I really wanted to believe this movie was going to be good, but it wasn't and the reason why was..
Blame the studio. They edited and changed so much of the film from what Louis Leterrier (a new director who basically has/had no pull) originally created that the two cuts hardly resemble each other.
Studio executives need to worry about the dollars and sense and let creative worry about creative.

man, i guess im in the vast minority of people who saw this movie and actually liked it. i thought it was cool.

i've never seen the original. i know i know, not really sure how i missed it as a kid. But i thought it was turrible. no character development, no plot development, rushed story etc etc. C-

I watched the original back in the day and thought it was pretty good at the time. But this remake is terrible in every way. It doesn't even follow the mythology, instead opting for some kind of moralistic fortune cookie crap

Sam Worthington basically acknowledged the low quality of the original and said that the reasons by it's suckage (Warner Brothers studio executive interfering in the creative process) will not be a problem with the sequel.

I love the original so much. I was really pulling for this updated version to be good.
Sad to say... it's clearly not.
How to diagnose all the things that are wrong with it? It's too difficult.
I'll just stick with this... I can think of SIX chatacters that have actual speaking lines that could be done away with, and you would never miss them. They are so glaringly bad... I remember all of them one year after viewing.
The storyline is dumb. Revenge may be plot enough for a videogame, but that's all you've got? Really? Andromeda is just... an afterthought? And revenge on a god? Who the hell actually thinks he can get revenge on a god?
Ugh... I'm not even going to write about this piece of shite anymore. Wears me out thinking about it.
