I killed this 8 point a few weeks ago South of Morgan City. Big deer for the marsh. But, while we were waiting for him to growth that 8th fatal point, a much larger bodied deer crossed behind him. That other deer had to have been 50 pounds heavier than mine.

Big sumbitch. I'd hate to have to drag that bastard through the marsh.

The neck on him is huge, must've been chasing.

We stopped 6 times to catch our breath on the way to the boat. Only 150 yard drag, but took over an hour.
He was chilling with 2 does in the airboat lane. When we got down to go check him out, the does started walking toward us like they had never seen people before.

Bullet went in behind his front right shoulder, then got lodged in his left shoulder. 30-06, about 115 yards. Deer was so big and fat, no exit wound, hardly any blood at all from entry either.

Nice deer but isn't it a 7 point?

These 2 pics don't show his only brow tine. We watched him thinking he was a 7 point for about 45 minutes or so before we got a really good look as he got closer. Once we spotted the 8th point, it was over.

How did you see that from 115 yards?

I had a spotter in the stand with me and some badass binoculars you need to hunt the vast marsh we were hunting. He wasn't letting me shoot anything he wasn't sure of, so I took his word for it.
