I am waiting on the OC choice to decide whether the Muschamp hire is a good one. I beleive that we will improve on D but need a strong OC for this to work. Kerwin Bell is my favorite if UF could get him away from a head coaching job at JU. Who else would be a top candidate, that is obtainable? I am not thrilled by Applewhite.

i think you've nailed it with this. muschamp will likely do fine with the D but if he hires a guy that can put up points, that'll be the edge. similar to auburn's situation; i think everyone would agree that auburn isn't where they are without malzahn. don't know much about bell but i've thought that holgerson would be a slam dunk hire.

I agree, naming someone quickly could be the key to keeping Jeff Driskel although I haven't heard anything about him wavering at this time.

Applewhite is not he OC - at least not yet. Orangebloods reports:
As a staff, we've now talked to a few sources who have indicated that Will Muschamp is not targeting Major Applewhite or Duane Akina as coordinator candidates at Florida.

Another person we spoke with who is close to the situation said as of this morning, no offer had been made by Muschamp to bring Applewhite aboard.

We'll continue to monitor this situation because things could change as Muschamp gets settled, but for right now it appears Muschamp is looking in other directions.

Alabama DC Kirby Smart continues to be a hot name as a possible Fla DC candidate.

The name being floated around by people close to the Florida program last night was Dana Holgerson as being high on the wish list at OC

Applewhite probably won't be our OC but I think Muschamp wants to bring him over for his recruiting prowess.

Would love to have Akina on our staff. He would probably be DC in title only anyway.

Terry Austin is still the DC. He was DB coach of the Arizona Cardinals before comimg to UF last year.

Adazzio is good as gone imo.

I think Muschamp is going to clean house except maybe for the S&C coach and Chuck Heater.

Pretty much. Look what a good OC had done at Auburn? Turned a pretty much worthless head coach in Chizik to a possible Nat'l Championship coach.

And if you got any spare change, I'd also recommend the usefullness of 200K.

ya'll are going to be fine. i expect muschamp to take a year to learn the ropes, but will be going full bore in 2112 and beyond. the OC is important but i think you have only one way to go and that's up. ya'll have the talent; you just had a HC on meds and battling issues that were critical distractions and it spilled over to the players and to the coaching staff. new blood is going to be just what the doctor ordered. at least for you. not for us (the rest of the SEC).

Muschamp should hire Mike Leech. OC and Asst HC. 1 million or 1.5 should do it.
