Soliciting Thoughts on our QB Recruiting Strategy

It seems counterintuitive to continually target QB recruits that play such dissimilar styles. Are we a pro-style team or a spread/dual-threat type of team? Please don't ruin the thread with pissy comments about our offense. There are enough of those already.
I realize that you try to get as much talent as possible, but I think at the QB position, it should fit your system. Currently, we have 2 Dual threat kids on our board with Mett(hopefully) and Rivers in the mix. This approach is certainly not working out too well for Florida either. I can't understand why Brantley went to UF or why they were interested in him. Great talent, but a tough fit. Scary to think what they would look like with Newton.

Its not that, it's that there are literally ZERO QBs out there that are even considering LSU. Well not zero, but the ones we are recruiting are the ones the staff feels good enough to play college ball and actually are interested in LSU

Depending on who you believe, we have the best available pro-style JUCO QB and a top tier dual threat kid considering us at the moment. I agree that we have a lack of big names instate, however. Over the last two years, we landed Shep, Garrett and Lee (momentarily). Same idea. Not a flame. Just wondering if this isn't adding to our lack of a real offensive identity.

Bridgewater is no longer considering us...which is why LSU offered Dak.

Based on threads on this board, Prescott is a backup plan in the event that Mullen bolts for Miami (which he should IMO). Bridgewater would get a major upgrade in terms of scheme and upside potential.
Not sure I buy the whole story, but that seems to be the consensus around here.

Both mett and rivers are drop back. people are confused abut Dak p. he's listed as dual. however, he has drop back skills as well. think d mcnab. he could run in his day, however, he was a pass first guy. so is dak. you don't have to run a spread option with dak. he's a passer that can run. not a runner that can pass.
i think people relate to j.j. and lee. all three of these guys move better than lee and pass better than j.j.
the thing i hope they have that our current two don't is the ability to make the quick and right decision. j.j. can't make a decision and j.l. makes to quick of a decision. i really believe j.j. would be a hell of a qb if he could make and trust his decision. he plays like he's in quick sand because he doesn't trust what he sees.

I will admit that I all I know about Prescott is what I have read here as of late. I didn't pay much attention to him b/c we weren't after him and he was already committed. Thanks for the input.
Decision making is the most critical of all skills IMO for a QB. With it, you can be Drew Brees or Tom Brady. Without it, you are Ryan Leaf.

let's go with the Auburn strategy!

Well it seems to me that Miles and Crowton have different ideas of what type of offense we should run, hence the need to have different styles of QB.
I just cannot comprehend how a major program such as LSU can have significant problems at QB for three consecutive years. It is truly mind-boggling.

Well, its not the sole reason, but when you boot the #1 prospect in nation who is also your heir apparent, you get behind the 8 ball real quick, regardless what you have behind him.
We'll never know what JJ or JL might of been if they were eased into the starting role, vs thrust into it.

Its the "blind squirrel hunting for acorns" strategy

probably the best thing we could do is not mention the coaching staff by name
