1. Jan. 1 Bowls at same time - Ticket City 12pm on ESPNU, Outback 12 pm ABC, Capitol One 12 pm ESPN, Gator 12:30 ESPN2

2. BCS Bowls Jan. 1 - Rose and Fiesta ESPN ESPN paid an arse of money for the BCS Bowls they will pimp them hard.

3. Cotton Jan. 7 at 7 pm on Fox. This is Fox's only bowl game so once the match up is announced they will pimp all day every Sunday to a national audiance.

4. LSU & TAMU have played 49 times with LSU leading 26-20-3

5. Rematch of the 1943 Orange Bowl LSU win 19-14(Yeah that one is a stretch)

So LSU can play Jan 1 and be one of 4 games playing, start at 12 pm after parting on New Years Eve, play on a crappy field, be on cable, and get over shadowed by bigger games.

OR...they can have a stand alone game, start at 7 pm, play in a cathedral, on network TV, and lead that network into the wild card round of the NFl Playoffs.

The Cotton Bowl will be the 5th BCS game. They are gonna use this as an example.

This. Hopefully they make a plus one scenario and add this as a bowl game. Makes no sense there was never one in TX to begin with.

Take it out on "otowntiger" for not wanting to drive anywhere.

Just remember this will be the first time the Cap 1 has bypassed the higher ranked SEC team. Personally I think this is a slap in the face to LSU.

basically the same set up as last year and last year the capital one still drew the FIFTH highest TV ratings of all bowl games .. and did better than the orange bowl and blew the cotton bowl away in the same time slot:

LINK

new year's day is a tradition football TV day .. people sit glued to the TV for 12 straight hours watching football because that is tradition .. i guarantee you this friday night cotton bowl will not draw 1/3 the ratings that last year's cap one drew ... friday night is THE worst primetime night of the week .. Fox butchers college football .. and you will have basically zero promotion for the game from ESPN and ABC ..

quote:

2. BCS Bowls Jan. 1 - Rose and Fiesta ESPN ESPN paid an arse of money for the BCS Bowls they will pimp them hard.

well of course they will .. they are BCS games .. you just said it yourself .. they paid a shite ton of money for the games .. they are going to augment their investment .. but they will also promote the shite out of their capital one game because it is on ABC and ESPN loves to do vigorous cross promotion on ABC .. you know that ..

quote:

3. Cotton Jan. 7 at 7 pm on Fox. This is Fox's only bowl game so once the match up is announced they will pimp all day every Sunday to a national audiance

it will get passing mentions .. the NFL on Fox is their crown jewel .. they are not going to detract from an NFL broadcast to "pimp" a friday night non-BCS college bowl game that they are stuck with from the previous BCS contract ..

quote:

4. LSU & TAMU have played 49 times with LSU leading 26-20-3

exactly .. if you above the age of 30 .. that is ho hum city .. we might as well play tennessee in a bowl game (which we did in 1972) .. bowl games are supposed to be somewhat unique, special events .. playing texas a&m isn't unique at all .. i remember opening with them every year for ten years not long ago ... blah .. we've only played michigan state once .. michigan state is ranked 8th .. with our speed, we can beat these guys, finish the season in the top 10 and open next season in the top 6 .. preseason position is huge in the current BCS .. ask TCU .. texas a&m, on the other hand, is ranked 19th and hot as shite .. you lose to them and you finish about 15th or 16th and start next season out of the top 10 with a much more difficult hill to climb ... that seems like a steep price to pay to me just to beg for a bowl game because the fricking stadium itself excites you ..

quote:

5. Rematch of the 1943 Orange Bowl LSU win 19-14(Yeah that one is a stretch)

you said this one yourself, so i will leave it alone ..

quote:

the capital one bowl is on ABC .. that would be a national network ..the field was converted to field turf after last season's game and looks great .. and look at my television ratings link above and tell me if the cap one bowl got lost in all this bowl clutter you keep referring to ..

quote:

OR...they can have a stand alone game, start at 7 pm, play in a cathedral, on network TV, and lead that network into the wild card round of the NFl Playoffs

you are like everyone else .. it all boils down to the stadium for you .. what does television and the stadium the game is being played in have do with the game itself exactly ?? on television they could be playing at tad gormley and you wouldn't know it .. cowboys stadium is gorgeous .. i went there for the saints game .. but if you are sitting in the 300 level .. which is about 50% of the stadium .. the huge HD screen is a major distraction and you catch yourself just watching the game on the TV screen .. at $140+ a pop .. that's an expensive TV watch .. and i don't really think Fox looks at the cotton bowl as a lead in for the wild card round of the playoffs since Fox doesn't even have a wildcard game the following day, NBC does ..

what does playing one football game in a city do for your recruiting presence ?? texas a&m doesn't do well in dallas ... you could say the same thing about playing in orlando .. didn't patrick peterson come from florida ?

The Capital One Bowl Committee will not want LSU back this year.

We just played in Orlando last year. Many fans will not be to excited about making the same trip two years in a row. Not to mention the weather was terrible so many who did go did not have the best time. These Bowl games are worried about selling out stadiums. Cap One is probably worried about ticket sales if they bring LSU back two years in a row.

That being said the Cotton would expect an LSU/Texas A&M game to sell out easily.

Rag.. Cap1 moved from ABC to ESPN this year. I know, same company, but it's certainly different (network TV vs cable).

Outback is on ABC this year at same time as Cap1.

The Cap 1 bowl has field turf now.
