xbox help says play dvd

every time i put a game in it says play dvd then i unhook the cable that connects to the tv and it sometimes works but usually doesnt can i fix this any way?

It's an error. The lens gets stuck. You can bang on the top of the xbox when you turn it on to try to dislodge it. I just sent mine back since it was under warranty. They have videos on youtube showing the fix.

This used to happen to the original Xbox all the time. Sometimes a DVD lens cleaner would help, but eventually the DVD drive needed to be replaced.
