What is Crowton's contract situation?

I've searched, but found no straight answer. It would seem, from a business standpoint, that whether Crowton is removed as OC this year depends on which affirmative step would need to be taken to keep him, or let him walk.
What I mean is this - if his contract is up, and it would require the affirmative step of signing him to a new deal to keep him on as OC for 2011, it would seem it's more likely that he's gone. In this scenario, no one has to actually do anything to get rid of Crowton. His contract simply expires, and he walks away.
Conversely, if he has another year, and getting rid of him requires the affirmative step of terminating him and buying him out, it seems more likely that he'd stay. There, the path of least resistance, i.e. doing nothing, causes Crowton to stay.
Of course, he could be signed to a new deal, or fired with years still left. So there are no guarantees based on contract status. But common sense would dictate that his contract being up this year is probably a stronger indication that he's leaving, than a year remaining would indicate that he's staying.
So does anyone know when Crowton's contract runs out?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think his contract is up.

I would think that an offense that has been in the bottom 20% of Div 1 at a school like LSU is enough to allow them to end the relationship without to much of a problem.
It might cost a little money, but people who would like to see LSU in the running for a 2012-2013 Nat'l Championship must understand the offense is not gonna get us there under his leadership.

The people with all the money obviously didn't care too much about the 2010 National Championship.

He got a 3 year deal after the title game in 07. 2010 should be his last season as part of that deal.

Can we get rid of Crowton, before the bowl game

We should have bought him a separate ticket to Utah immediately after the game and told him that we'd ship his shite to him at no cost. Go back to his office, light his playbook on fire, take a picture of it, and mail it to him. Insert "This is the closest you've come to lighting our offense on fire all year. P.S. You're fired." on the picture and mail it to him with his buyout check.
Two weeks later Alleva should send Crowton the picture he took of him wiping his arse with the buyout check.
Any other questions about how I feel about Crowton?

Crowton will step down and focus on 'family life' or take a head coaching gig at a smaller program.

He's owed $469,000 after this year. Miles fought his arse off after 2008 to get his assistants 3-year deals particularly on offense, thus Studs and Crowton got 3 year deals starting in 2009.

If true, Leslie needs his arse beat down.

It's true. I remember reading about it. He got Crowton a raise and extension during the 2008 season.
Now, if that was wrong, then we held on to Crowton over a $469,000 buyout according to some? Do people realize how claiming his buyout was too much makes absolutely no sense?
I also believe after last season people were saying his buyout was close to $1 M, which would make sense at $938,000 if he had two years on it going into this season.

If he's owed less than half a million it shouldn't be too hard to buy him out. The easiest way is to tell his agent to start looking around.
I'm pretty sure firing him not would hurt bowl prep. After the season, is a different story.

That was after the national championship season. So 08-10.

So who is correct here? Is this his last year on contract?

And with the money they are getting, is it any wonder Studs didn't want to leave for Memphis last year...

I am not sure, but the word last year defending Miles for keeping him was that his ~$1 Million buyout was refused to be paid by the athletic department. If his contract ended this year, there is no way it was the reported $1 Million that BelowPar and others stated.

Doesn't he make >$750M? I assume his buyout is simply whatever is remaining in his contract....so if he makes the $750M-$900M that is being thrown around, at the end of last season he would have been owed one year....or, $750M-900M.
I was under the impression that his contract was up after this season...which is why I am POSITIVE a change will happen. There would be no way his contract expires (if it actually did, or does) after this season and he is offered ANOTHER contract.
This wouldn't be a firing...it would simply be not retaining him. I just can't see Miles or LSU negotiating another contract with Crowton to keep him here.
Or so I tell myself....every day....every hour...
If I keep saying it, it will come true...

You've got to take off your fan hat, and put on your thinking cap, when you think about this. Keep in mind that Alleva didn't hire Miles. And like baseball GM's with managers, you usually want to sink or swim with your own guy. So why give a coach you didn't hire, and who's just capped a 9 win season by losing a sloppy bowl game, $1 million to fix a mistake?
Now, I do not think Alleva wanted Les to fail, as he was making this call this past January. But by hiding behind the false excuse of not being able to afford the Crowton buyout, Alleva wins either way. If Les has a good year, as he did this year, great. Alleva has a winning coach on his hands to keep the Ath. Dept. train rolling. If not, though, it's easier to fire Les, and Alleva brings in his own guy.
Now, the dynamic has changed. With no worse than a 10-win season, Miles will deserve and get at least a 1 year extension. So Alleva essentially has to make Les "his guy," and is as invested in Miles' success as anyone else. More important, Crowton has no more than about a $500k buyout, and maybe none at all. Much easier for Alleva to OK paying $500k to help a coach he's now attached to at the hip, than $1 million to help a coach from whom, in January 2010, Alleva could have plausibly distanced himself.
Long/short, if Miles wants a new OC this year, as was rumored last year, it should be far more likely that he gets one.
