Are we still after this guy? I know schollys are limited, and I was just wondering if we still wanted the guy now that Rivers and most likely Mett are on board. Sorry if this has been discussed, I don't generally follow in-season recruiting much.

It was rumored on ESPN that he had cut it down to North Carolina and LSU, knocking off Florida State, but the Dwyer trio will be attending the Florida-Florida State game. Whether that's an official or unofficial visit for them, I don't know, but most Florida recruits will likely be at that game.

Part of me thinks the rumor is untrue, but then another part thinks it has some legs to it. Florida State had said for awhile that they were set at QB for this class and in general, and that is why Brissett started to look around at schools like us, North Carolina, and Wisconsin

He has continuously stated UNC because he wants to play both football and basketball in college (he's a pretty good basketball player as well). His future will clearly be in football though. I wish someone could tell him this, but there are 3 things wrong with that:

1. UNC already has 2 QBs in their class, Everrett Golson and Marquise Williams, with the latter being the exact same type of QB Brissett is.

2. At UNC, if you want to see time on the basketball team, you have to commit to basketball alone. They bring in Top 3 classes every year, with about 4-5 5* players every year. Brissett is only a 3* according to Rivals as a basketball player.

3. While Butch did do the right thing in sitting out his ineligible players, sanctions will still likely be handed out to UNC. Not as harsh as USC got, but they will still get hit

I like the tools Cardale Jones has more than Brissett. Jones is 6-5+, and has a J-Roc-like cannon.

By all accounts, he does an amazing play then follows it up with a stupid throw. Still, you can't teach size and rare arm-strength.

Then again, we haven't had a good record lately of developing prospects that need developing.

Freek I agree with everything you said, but from what I have seen, Jones dropped us for schools closer to home.

I think Cardale was an emergency target at the time we were going after him. Zach Lee had just decided to go pro, and we didn't have many options on the board. Now, we have a great shot at Mett, Bridgewater is wavering, and we are on Brissett's short list.

Brissett reminds me exactly of a lesser version of Cam Newton, skill-wise not looking for money wise (sorry, had to take my shot at Cam there). He's a big guy with good mobility, good speed, and an absolute cannon (some of passes look like how JaMarcus used to throw them with very little effort, but would go a mile)

If we get Mett, Rivers, and Brissett/Bridgewater on board... and a little later Bridgewater/Brissett want to get on board as well, would we take four QBs in this class? I would assume we'd change a couple position within the bunch if we did.

Eh.

Am I the only one that thinks Bridgewater is more or less another Jacory Harris? If so, meh.

Is it just because they went to the same high school and look the same?

Skill-set wise, Bridgewater beats him everything. He is faster than Harris, giving him an ability to get out of the pocket and run the ball. From what I've seen with Harris, he's been primarily a pocket. Harris tends to just lob a lot of his passes (the M.O. of Miami QBs lately), while Bridgewater puts good touch on his long passes.

What separates Bridgewater from Harris even more is the confidence and composure that Bridgewater has. He just never seems to break down in the pocket, and has a good head on his shoulders. He's not looking for immediate playing time, and has even said that he hates how Miami just tosses true freshmen out there at QB

UNC is appealing to him because of basketball and the fact that both of their qb commits are looking around hard.Williams could very well end up at Michigan or VT.Golson could very well end up at ND.(a lot of ND guys think he will definitely end up in South Bend)Doubt they lose both but it's possible and then Brissett would definitely be better off at UNC being the only QB commit. We are still very much in it and have a shot.If FSU offers,he's going there.

Is there a limit to how many players can be on a basketball team? I'm sure Brissett could at least add depth to the basketball team roster and play football as well at LSU.
