Looking at a 10 year old, 18.5 foot model. Anyone with experience or knowledge about this line? Would be using it for light inshore and marsh fishing. thanks!

I am almost to the opinion anything shorter than 22' on a Bay boat is not worth it. If you are going to go less than that then just buy a Carolina Skiff or similar to fish in the marsh and bays. They are less expensive, stronger bottom, go in shallower water, need less horepower on outboard, and are easier to get unstuck...
Just my opinion and other people can disagree which I expect...
As far as a good boat I haven't heard anything bad about them. I own a Nitro and am very satisfied with it...

Agree w/ KLSU. I have a 19 Blazer Bay. Wish I had more room. Kenner is a good boat. Just depends on what you have pushing it.

Excellent boat, I have that boat and it's a very nice boat to do what you listed. I usually fish by myself a few times and it's nice to be able to only need $30 in gas to go out to my spots. I've looked into getting a slightly bigger one but I keep looking back and say that this boat gets me to the areas that I need.

Do these boats have composite stringers in the floor or wood??

Thanks for the responses. This one has a 115 pushing it. Can an 18 footer fish 3 adults comfortably? or 2 adults and 2 kids?

Or transom. The OP needs to have it looked at for rot and termites if the boat is made out of wood.

NO! look at it this way. 2 adults using 6' rods with a bit of space covers easy 14'. Were are you going to put a third? Even a 22' boat is about the smallest to fish 3 adults comfortably in the marsh.

Have a 115 Yamaha on may BB. The boats are almost identical. Does well, easy on fuel. Fishing 3 adults is tough but like others have said can be done. 2 adults & 2 kids, well good luck with that.

You won't need it to be checked for termites, Kenner was either the first or one of the first boats to be built without wood and all composite. They are well made boats that should last a lifetime. My camp partner used to guide and still does and has had his for a good 10 years or more and it still is in good shape and handles chop well.

BS. That is if both cast at the same time, both casting off their side. I've fished 4 off a 21', no problems.

He doesn't know that. A ten year old boat should certainly be checked. I have sold the majority of fiberglass to the Gulf Coast for over 15 years. Every boat manufacturer takes short cuts.
Including Ranger, Boston Whaler and Kenner.

Had a 96, 18 ft. kenner with a 90 Johnson. Great boat but they DO have wood. Transom and bow are epoxied marine plywood. Stringers are also epoxied marine plywood. Bill Kenner was a big believer in wood v/s composite as long as the wood is sealed/protected. My boat gave me great service, never had an issue. Fished 3 several times and did fine. 2 Kids and 2 adults may be a little tight though if casting and treble hooks are involved. My 18 kenner was a very dry riding boat in a chop as well. I now have a 22ft. Pathfinder, thats gonna play hell catching the fish that little kenner did.

My dad has a 21 footer with a merc 150 saltwater in Maine. I fish on it all the time and it is a great boat. He has had it for three years and its a great boat.
