Isn't this a much better system, which crowns a true champion? What are your thoughts?

8 teams. No conference locks bullcrap. Current BCS rankings, top 8 period. 1 v 8, 2v7, etc.

Doesn't need to be 16 teams. I can comfortably say that teams ranked below 8 or 10 are not worthy of a national championship

playoff system would be great, the main concern is losing all the sponsors of the bowl games, then lessening the value of the regular season, however i would love to see a playoff system, there would be some great matchups.

What is a true champion ? The current system determines a champion.

there can still be sponsors to each round of the bowls. it can be like the 4 games in the nfl leading to the conference championships and super bowl.

the regular season really wouldn't lose much value, and this way an 11-1 or 10-2 team can still play for the championship

There's too much subjectivity to me. With 8 teams there is still subjectivity, but much less.

Imagine the Oregon/Nebraska winner playing against the LSU/Boise winner. It would add excitement to the bowls

Get rid of pre season rankings and I agree with this.

the NCAA does not fully recognize the BCS champ. This is where the "MBCSNC" cones in to play... See other thread about it

They are a necessary evil IMO. A playoff would cut down on the influence the preseason ranks have on the end of season ranks though

What devalues the regular season more:
A. (current BCS format) Losing one game and knowing the rest of your season is for fun, not that important, no real implications left. Saying things like, "I'll be happy with 9-3" and "we can still get a decent bowl"
Or
B. (playoff scenario) losing one game and knowing the rest of your games are still important and you can still scrap your way into a playoff even if 4 or 5 other teams go undefeated.

You have to have 16 teams to have it recognized by the NCAA. But you could always run the first two rounds in the weeks following the conference championship games, freeing up 12 of the 16 to play in bowls.

With a 4 team bracket you won't really find anyone that doesnt deserve a chance at a title.
