This is his first year trailing. Last weekend he had 3 trails including this yearling which was my 10yr old nephew's first deer.

Nice. My buddy has a 1/2 Lab, 1/2 Bloodhound. It is a tracking sonofabitch.

Big ole do there huh.

I would not have a problem admitting that was my deer rookie.

I'm just wondering why you needed that dog to track a deer laying on the side of what looks to be a damn highway lol. Obviously that's a good driving trail.

A good blood trailing dog can be a great asset. The one we use found a couple of deer last year that probably never would've been found without him.

You'll get more meat skinning that dog...

J/k a blood trailing dog is a good thing to have until your neighbors find out.

Then you're stuck trailing everything shot in a 20 mile radius at all hours of the night.

How do you go about training a dog to do this?

Good looking lab. How old is he and where did you get him? He looks exactly like my lab. I know the father had really dominant genes and almost all of the males looked the same.
