Minnesota head coach options - SEC thoughts?
Posted on 10/27/10 at 1:12 pm

The Goofers fired their coach 2 weeks ago so that they could be the first in line for consideration for other coaches. Mike Leach, the only available option has expressed interest. Other names mentioned on Gopher Hole forum include: Belloti, Harbaugh, Sumlin (Houston) and even Shannon of Miami.
Shannon was mentioned as possibly being dissatisfied with the culture at Miami and wanting to make a move.
Any thoughts on how any of these would work in the Big 10, or as options at LSU?

According to Ole Miss fans, Mullen is going to leave Mississippi State for Minnesota.

The Gopher job is not an upgrade for either. IMO, Harbaugh is NFL-bound.

ULL job is close to becoming open - I think Nutt takes it

Outside of Harbaugh, none of those coaches would be an upgrade over what LSU has now.

I vote for Malzahn to take the Minny job.

Really? All of us said that? I actually haven't even thought about that. Maybe your awesome post should have been, "According to some Ole Miss fans, Mullen is going to leave Mississippi State for Minnesota."

According to AU fans, the AU OC job is better and higher paying than the Minnesota HC job.

EXCUSE ME, MOST Ole Miss fans. Heck half of the threads on The Spirit and NAFOOM are about Mullen and OM fans wanting him to take another job and leave Mississippi State.
OLE MISS FANS are OBSESSED with Mullen like
Arkansas fans obsessed with Nutt

Why would he want to go there? It won't be long before he gets offered a head coaching job at a much more high profile, desirable program (Colorado, Miami, Texas A&M, Clemson, etc...).

1. Minnesota's national championships are history.
never again.
2. They have one or two 4 star guys and a few three star guys, each year. Hockey is king.
no one in a position to move up in the SEC would take that job.
If someone were fired, they might take it to support their family.
If you had anything on the ball, you would be better off in the MAC, where you could get Ohio State's leavings, or you could coach in the Pennsylvania league, which often produces the Div II national champion using State Penn and Pitt's leavings. at least you would be able to compete with your opponents, and show what your schemes can do.

Is Colorado reallly a high profile, desirable program? I know they are going to the PAC-10(12), but I dont think they will be in the upper tier of that conference.

I don't know if the Nutt obsession can ever be topped.

My guess is Malzahn is going to wait for an SEC or Big 12 job. I am sure there are schools in other conferences he would consider, but I doubt Minn. is one of them. I see Sumlin going to Minn if they fork over enough $$$$.

Ok, didn't know that, I don't go there too often...

Apparently, from the looks of your trolling, you are obsessed with OM...

+1
But if I was an Ole Miss fan, I'd be pissed at all of the people on the Spirit talking about Mullen. Id be worried about beating him instead of talking about him.

Colorado was a damn good program not that long ago. I used to remember when they were the only Big 12 program that was actually competitive on a yearly basis with those great Nebraska teams from the '90s.

Having a rival is a full time obsession.
I take it you must have never had a TRUE high school rival that your school played.
When you have a rival you love to hate them and hate to love them, and YES rivals at times can be a little obsessed.
