I'm getting tired of the calling for Miles head threads! Be careful what you wish for! I for one don't want LSU to become one of those embarrasing schools that fires a successful coach.

Miami, Notre Dame, Nebraska come to mind as running off successful coaches. Michigan basically forced theirs into retirement. How has that faired for them. How long has it taken Nebraska to recover?

What makes you think just because we get a new coach that we'll be better?

There is no guarantee.

The next coach might come in and have a couple of good season... next thing you know all of our players are getting arrested.

Maybe the next guy gets us on probabtion.

Maybe the next guy can't recruit and we fall to 5-7 .....

I agree with this. I don't support Miles being fired simply because I don't see anyone out there who is a slam dunk.

I remember people screaming for Brian Kelly last year. I want Miles to improve, not be replaced. If LSU slips to 5 losses however I would support a change.

These crybabies think we're going to get John Gruden. And that Gruden going to turn us into 14-0.

Or they think that Will Muschamp wants to come here and listen to the fans boo him when he's 3-0.

Look who's being negative now?

Why do you think of those coaches?

I think of ...Saban...

The reason I think we'd get a good coach is that Notre Dame and Michigan, despite being traditional (read old and stuffy) are not the same as LSU.

Any coach would have an easier time building a powerhouse at LSU than either of those schools.

Exhibit A: LSU made Saban. He was a middle of the road coach who had won 9 games once in 5 years before he got here. The rest is history.

Exhibit B: frick, Miles can win here. I'll say it again -- Miles can win here. So if you're a coach who, you know, really thinks you can coach, then you'll probably think you can dominate here and you can!!!!!!!

That's a posi-Tiger!!!!!

Let's re-label things: Nega-Tigers are people who think another coach couldn't do that.

You are right there are no guarantees in life. You either live your life paralyzed with fear or you don't. Do we take the guaranteed 8-9 wins a year and likely never win another
West Title under Les Miles or we attempt to hire a coach that can win West and SEC Titles again. You do your homework as an athletic department and you try to hire an elite coach. Either that or settle for no more championships.

and if we get a Ron Zook, then you fire him and move on to someone else.

But Miles is a known commodity.

We know we don't want this.

You think it's easier to build a powerhouse having to recruit and play against Auburn, Alabama, and Florida every year than it is to have to play and recruit against Michigan and....?, and NO ONE every year?

Puh-lease.

This is no where near quantifiable. I said last year Miles had two years, and I still believe that. He continues to bring in top talent, which is a serious plus. And he may turn it around, but I think that will require a new offensive coordinator and o-line coach. If neither Crowton or Stud are replaced after this season, then I would wager there will be a new head coach for 2012.

Saban went undefeated in the SEC for two years.

He never played Florida in the regular season
He played LSU when we were our weakest since he was head coach.
He played Auburn when they were breaking in a new head coach
He played Tennessee when they were breaking in a new head coach

Saban's success was hugely a product of the misfortunates of other programs on his teams' schedules. I promise you they will go no better than 9-3 this year and third in the West.

Oh God. Could you ban yourself for intentional deception.

He beat Fla. twice in the last 3 years (dominating them thoroughly).

The only reason LSU was "down" because Miles was our coach. Is that Saban's fault.

The original argument was that you couldn't compare Saban at LSU to Miles now because the SEC was tougher. Now here comes another Miles apologist, using the same logic Miles uses to choose plays, saying all of these teams were "down".

He's the worst coach in SEC West right now. With equal talent, you wouldn't bet on Miles against any other coach -- I know it, you know, MIles knows it and God knows it -- quit tryung to change the subject he's horrible and should be fired.

Yeah, Saban's just so overrated. He's nothing more than a bottom feeder who strikes when his opponents are at their weakest.

So when does undefeated in SEC two years in a row and SEC champs 2 years in a row become the same thing again?

Also Saban 1-1 in SEC championship games at Alabama,
Miles 1-1 in SEC championship games at LSU
Saban 1 NC at bama first 3 years, Miles 1 NC at lsu first three years.

So does anyone expect us to beat Saban At Bama every year? What coach can do that? No we wont have 10x better talent. If you haven't noticed it isn't scrappy boise state over there.

He beat Florida in the postseason. If you want to include those games, then he isn't undefeated against the SEC, is he?

bullshite argument. Miles also presided over the "up" years of the program. It's fallacious to say that we're only down now because he's the coach if this holds true.

No he's not. He's better than Chizik, better than Petrino, and better than Nutt (overall, obviously not when examining head-to-head records). He's either slightly better or slightly worse than Saban in a given year, but overall he's comparable. I think that actually it's possible that were it a few years later, we'd be saying that Mullen was the best coach in the division.

FWIW, if we had equal talent last weekend, we would have won the game.

If it makes you feel better, we did the same thing en route to our National Championship in 2007. I'm not saying that what Saban has done at Alabama wasn't impressive, I'm saying that the hardest games on Alabama's schedule were easier the last two years than they are typically, and so people who want to throw out the "undefeated" card aren't examining things beyond the surface.
