Another Mettenberger thread

Ive seen several places that Miles is personally recruiting Zach mettenberger. Is this true and does this indicate a new OC will be here next year and signal a shift to a single prostyle philosophy?

Probably. I think it is obvious to everyone Crowton is good as gone. A Pro Style offense would probably be the only way we'd have any identity on offense. You know Miles is going to put his hand in the offense with his Pro sets, especially if he gets a spread guy. This is partly our problem because we don't have a identity on offense and it also has hurt QB recruiting. Who do you recruit at QB when your offense has no true identity?
Pro Style is about the only offense that would mesh with a Miles philosophy...
Honestly, I think LSU has more than enough athletes for a spread. We don't have a lot of big WRs anymore, we seem to be going to smaller guys. OBJ, Fobbs, Landry, RS. But at the same time our RBs are all big dudes. Where is the identity?

I cry myself to sleep at night thinking "what if" we had Petrino's offense with our skill players

No he isn't, and the sooner people realize this the better.

Well i think we have to resign ourselves to the fact that Miles is here for at least another year, we will sacrifice Crowton and try again the following year.

Agreed! However, we have an OC who wants to run an Oregon type offense with players that are similar to that of Alabama.
I don't care how "elite" your talent is, you have to play to your player's strengths. It's not just LSU though, ask Florida how the John Brantley spread offense is going?

Amazing how people can draw conclusions from thin air and the sheep that will then repeat it over and over.
To the OP, yes he was on Buddy's show last week and Les talks to him frequently. The guy sounds very solid to LSU

Frank Wilson AND Crowton are at Butler CC today. Why his GC there?

Its funny how Jeff Driskel hasnt thought about looking around the way Florida has looked with a pro-style QB this year.

I hope so because supposedly Mettenberger wants to know if the offense is going to change.
Crowton being at Butler is disconcerting unless he is there to personally tell Mettenberger that he will not be at LSU next year.

Are you serious?
Give Chip Kelly, Brian Kelly, Gus Malzahn, Mike Leach, Dana Holgerson, Sonny Dykes, Tony Franklin, Art Briles, Jim Harbaugh, Rich Rodriquez, Steve Sarkisian, Steve Spurrier, Bobby Petrino, Norm Chow, Mike Riley, Jeff Tedford, Lane Kiffin, Kevin Wilson, Kevin Sumlin, Gary Pinkel, Chris Peterson, Chris Ault, Neil Brown, June Jones & and host of other great offensive coaches the talent that LSU has at the skill positions on offense and they would do some pretty nasty things offensively.

I agree, Miles is not the OC. But, I've heard from people I trust that have been close to the program that Miles definitely messes with the offense big time. He did it with Fisher and is doing it with Crowton.
Les needs to hire an OC that he's more compatible with, and if that doesn't work, than a lot of us will finally get our wish...If it does work, great.

Same reason Earl Lane and Brick Haley visited Sam Montgomery maybe?......
Now, I'm not saying Frank is definitly going to be OC, but that has been thrown around. Just trying to connect some dots here.
