This doesn't quite fit on the Fark board. Still, I am afraid if I posted this inquiry on the Help board, most of the talented graphic artist would miss it. My apologies, in advance, to the site admins.

I am contemplating a graphics tablet purchase. I know Nortizzle said he uses one. Do any of the other artist here use one as well? Pros/Cons? Any specific recommendations?

Any help would be appreciated.

This is the one I use

Its not expensive and its great to start on.

The pros are:
Faster work flow.
Its more natural than a mouse so you can be more precise.
The pen has buttons, i press one and i can move around when zoomed in on a picture in photoshop. Way faster than moving my mouse up to the navigation screen
It is pressure sensitive. so you can have more control on things.

Cons:
Since you hold the pen above the tablet to move the mouse around, sometimes when you want to click anchors(pen tool) you can end up missing when pressing down to click.

Thats really the only bad thing that i can think of.

It takes some time to get used to it but once you master it, you will use it all the time.

I don't. Just a mouse with the rollerball in the thumb spot.

For those interested, I found a used Intuos4 for a very reasonable price on Craigslist in near mint condition. I'm about to set it up and see if I can figure it out.

Thanks, 'Tizzle for the suggestion.
