Theory of Tackling

I've heard a lot of people saying that you have to tackle Newton low.
I don't agree with this -- this is one of the ways that he avoids direct hits -- people have to tackle him low.
I say, prolong the tackle by standing him up and let him get gang tackled a few times. Stand him up and let someone else come in and strip it. Stand him up and have someone else hit him low. You will lose some yards when he overpowers someone.
But you'll get some hurtin' on him and you may get a few turnovers.
In fact, Chavis should have TM teaching all of the players his secret black belt stripping techniques.
If you get some hits on Newton and he has to stop running, they'll be a little like Fla. when Tebow stopped running. Confused.

So you're saying that more than one person flying to the ball is good defense?
Thanks...

Depends on down & distance.
If it's 3rd down, bring him to the turf no matter what. If it's 2nd & long in the 1st quarter, sure trade some yards for some good punishing shots to the shoulders.

I saw the way Newton carried the ball against Arky and wondered the same thing.. He was running in the open field for most of the game against them tho.. but my thought was if he "wags" the ball out from his body like that we are bound to strip it. And I agree, stand him up, hold on, and let the calvary come.
