I don't get the love for Auburn and Arkansas.

AU has 3 point wins over Miss St., Clemson(in OT, and Kentucky.. The SC win looks good on paper but SC choked. Auburn didn't win it impressivley by any means.

Arkansas has ONE SEC win over a bad Georgia team (and they needed a last minute drive to do it) to compliment there oh so impressive Tenn. Tech and ULM blowouts.. Not to mention the squeaker over Texas AM..

These teams have had as many close victories as LSU, but against much inferior opposition. And only one decent victory among the two to speak of.

So I ask again.. Why the national love in comparison to LSU?

Is it just our lack of "Star" power.. Newton and Mallett to our defensive over achievers and #1 SEC running back??
The way I see it.. our issues (turnovers mainly) are fixable... Auburn isn't going to grow a defense.. and Arkansas doesn't have a running game (or even that impressive of a offense overall).. So what are the pundits basing the confidence in?

Respect will be gained on the field of play through our playing both AU and Ark, so it really doesn't matter what kind of "love" they are getting from the media.

We need to quit worrying about the media at this point and only worry about winning the games one week at a time. If we beat all of our remaining opponents, we will get the respect we have earned.

At that point , the talking heads really wont have a choice.

if you take off the lsu glasses, the same argument could and is, being made about us by other teams...bottom line is any of the 4 SEC West teams outside of Mississippi could make it to Atlanta...its very open.

Both have household name qbs and good offenses. Good offense is sexy to media and trumps defensive stats. Simple as that.

This is certainly a big factor. In addition, we are considered to be a poorly coached team that had to be "luckly" to win 3 of our games.

We get little credit by the talking heads for basically dominating UF physically because most of them did not watch the game and instead formed their opinions based on the last two minutes of the game...everyone saw the end.

True, I'll take under the radar anytime. (Tigers hunt better out of the spotlight.)
To be honest though, Florida is not the same Florida from the past several years. We dominated physically and almost lost. That sux.

Au/Ark have a QB - hence the love.
Bama - is last years NC - hence the love.
Florida - meyer - all the time love
SCar - Spurrier - return of the coach love

All that they can talk about for us are -
D- NC level
ST - NC level
WR - are being given a chance to show worth
OL - improving
RB - most productive in SEC
QB - getting resolved.

But this is not a good story therefore -they concentrate on -

We didn't win the division/conf/title last year
QB situation is not resolved as per fans/media
Our coach is winning because apparently it is luck that is the primary factor for winning 57 games in the sec with almost 80% winning record.

So given all the above factors - the media feels that any bones that they throw us for recognition should suffice.

The media will fall out of love with one of those teams this Saturday. If LSU beats Auburn, the Tigers will get a lot more attention. If Auburn wins this weekend, the media will really hype the Auburn LSU game.

Arkansas shot themselves in the foot offensively on all those games...

We allowed UGA back in by being conservative in the 2nd half

Unwarranted Turnovers killed us against Bama

We should have had 35 in the first half against aTm, but we continued with our SEC leading penalty calls

We have the #2 Offense, yet you call it unimpressive and #3 D despite all those issues...

You are ranked higher than Arky...STFU

This.

But yeah, I have no idea how Auburn, who was ranked 23 to start the year rocked up to where they are by sqeaking by teams like Clemson and Kentucky. USC was a quality win, but not the rest.

I don't get Nebraska either, they have not done anything of substance in a very long time except play it close with Texas last year.

I don't know why we aren't getting the love, but I like it. I would always rather have my team feeling a little jilted. "Us against the world" is a motivating place to be.

Has either of Aub or Ark coaches been ridiculed for game-day gaffs?

This is what accounts for the perception issue...
