Would he be able to play next year? Also, would he be a Sophmore or would he be a freshman since he never played in a D-1 game?

I think we need to add that to the title of the recruiting board, because it's only in every thread about Mettenberger that has been started on this board.

Yep.

2009: Redshirt
2010: Freshman (transfer year)
2011: Sophomore
2012: Junior
2013: Senior

He'll be eligible next year.

Wouldn't matter though, he didn't win the job at Georgia, so I don't see Miles playing him over two seniors that are already starting. It would be great to have him start as a Junior though.

The articles I've read about him never said he had won the job. It was all about it being a 3 person race to see who would win the job. Then he got kicked off and the race was down to Gray and Murray. Either way, he isn't coming in here and putting JJ and Lee on the bench. They will be seniors and Miles has a lot of trust in both of them even if others don't. Mettenberger will sit on bench a year and get better then start for two years. IMO

Wow, I love how people state things as fact when they actually have no clue whatsoever.

Reality is, we don't know what would have happened.

Why would one of them stick around? No way they both stay. Whoever is 2nd fiddle will transfer to FCS.

Sorry, but JJ won't leave for FCS. JL already has shown his want to be the QB so he's still here. We will be with both of them again next year, but likely only one plays.

He didn't win the job because no one won it. It was still an open competition after spring. Mett never made it to fall camp to compete which is where Murray won it.

You make it sound like Murray beat him out.

he'll learn the system next yr and start for the following 2 yrs (if good enough). i hope he is and i hope he comes to lsu because we need an older good qb and give our signee(s) a chance to get bigger and learn the system. it's tough to break into the sec as qb. that is proven time and time again. murphey at uga; brantly at uf; these guys are gonna be good ones in time.
