How do the Tigers call for a snap in shotgun formation?

At the end of the TN game, I think everyone would agree that JJ clapped his hands with approximately 4-6 seconds remaining.

Based on what I have seen, the snap does not immediately follow the clap but what DOES determine when the ball is snapped when the Tigers are in shotgun? Some teams use the foot lift, but I don't know that we do. You could use a voice count, but I can't tell if that's what we were doing at the time, and at least as of the :03 mark, JJ had evidently not called for it by voice (or in any other manner).

I know there have been other threads that are related to this but I am mostly interested in finding out what normally happens because I don't understand why JJ would not have been looking for the ball after giving what I understand to be the "ready" clap.

A thousand apologies if I missed this in the other threads, but I did not see it.

GC called that play. Very next play Miles lined QB under center and did it the correct way.
