I have one thing to say about Coach Miles!!

From someone on the outside looking in.
I am not taking up for his decisions on the field, and I am not saying whether he is right or wrong because I am not even close to being qualified to second guess a D-I coach. I am only taking the time to point out one thing about y'alls Head Coach.
He played for Michigan for Bo who I feel certain is a hero to Miles in a lot of ways. The Michigan job came open and it was probably his dream job. However his team (your LSU Tigers) had a chance to win the NC and he stuck right by your side and probably lost the only shot he will have ever had at his dream job. He stuck by his team and led them to the NC and came home with the crystal and he did it for your team, your University, and you fans.
He has never been accused of doing anything crooked and has recruited with the best in the nation since day one.
Coach Miles is a good man and has represented LSU with class since the first day he arrived on campus. From the outside looking in he has made me say WTF a few times but he has not one time made me think negatively about LSU. I think he has character, I think he is good to his wife, and I think he is probably a great father to his little girl and there is a hell of a lot more to be said for that than winning a fricking football game.
I am not judging his coaching ability because I am not qualified but I do think I know character when I see it and I think he has it.
Winning can be great when your winning but it never lasts as we all know. But, having character, and having a positive impact on what a young man may or may not become has much more to do with how we are graded and in the box marked character beside Coach Miles' name you can put a check mark.

Scoop, I really do appreciate your posts. But at times, I think you're just doing everything in your power to keep Miles at the helm at LSU.

Well, some people don't really know that...
But I get what you're saying, scoop and thanks! You are both funny are thoughtful all in one.

This honestly made me re-think how hard I've been on Miles lately.
Then, I started thinking, hey, you're a Bama fan. You'll say anything to quell the LSU fan base so that we keep Miles.
Now I'm overthinking it.

How in God's name could I influence who is the head coach at LSU?

Scoop,
I agree with you regarding Miles as a family man and as a stand up guy, although I have been suspicious of his motives regarding playing JJ.
I am not a football expert, but even I am qualified to pass judgement on Miles ability to manage the playclock...and so are you...and so is my wife...he simply cannot handle that part of his job.

Scoop, as I have said before, you're a good egg.
I appreciate your post and it is completely valid.
I essentially said the same thing a little bit earlier but it was difficult to express because I'm in the middle of all of this nuttiness as an LSU fan.
Thanks for stating that.

Scoop you know we are the only team with the actual players to compete with Bama this year. If things go according to plan the showdown in November will be EPIC n BR.

you're gonna get some shite from some on here scoop but you maybe the only outside poster that has a right to voice his opinion on lsu football. you're one of us man. you're a bama fan though but in my opinion, you have earned a right to comment as an insider. oh, and i agree with your post. since it supports miles, and in a larger content, amateur sports, you are gonna get killed on this board.

You're right but that's easy to say when he's not your coach. He is a good guy, maybe too good. Maybe that's part of the problem.
The way I see it, if you take the position as the HC to operate your organization like a CEO... you have to have the skills of a CEO.
First and foremost, a CEO has to be not just willing but dutiful in holding people accountable. Secondly, you have to be a great judge of ability. He failed in those areas first with the Co-Def Coordinator decision and secondly by keeping Crowton after the 2009 season.
If he was the CEO of a company that I was on the BOD for, he'd be gone. He has repeatedly demonstrated poor decision making ability and the inability to hold those close to him accountable.
Perhaps he would be better suited running this team from the HC perspective and getting away from the delegation/follow up approach b/c apparently he's not very good at it.
Lastly, he's a poor communicator. Not just in his delivery of his version of the English language but in his ability to give a directive and then have the expectation that it be carried out in the same manner that it was communicated. One can only conclude that the message is ambiguous or the recipient of the message does not have the expectation that the directive be executed verbatim.
