What is the role of the AD at LSU?

The fans, the commentator, the coaches , the players have all seen the collective body of work wrought from the raw material at hand over th last three or four years. And the drama and chaos speaks for itself.
Just one opinion but I think what's ahppenignis damaging to the program and, in some ways, to the institution.
Although AD's should speak softly and carry a big stick, seems to me the AD should provide more leadership than simply lecturing "boo birds". This is a disfunctional program right now, Chief and his defense notwithstanding.
