he made a rational decision. he decided that they would work with JJ to improve his deficiencies from last season and, with the emphasis on the run game, we would have an adequate offense.

we had a rough start, and he realized JJ needed all the game reps. Because he kept struggling, it became more imperative to work with him in game conditions.

he's not stupid, but it looks like he was wrong to put all of his eggs in one basket. he has not given his other option any meaningful playing time. now you might question how smart that was, but Miles still thinks JJ will come around.

He is gambling an awful lot, IMO. if we lose 3-4 games this year he will not lose his job, but he will lose a large portion of the fanbase.

With each game where he doesn't give Lee meaningful time, it means he is closing the door on that option, and is even more committed to JJ.

Maybe he is stupid, after all, to put all the marbles on one 19 year old kid.

Even if he has faith in JJ, like you said it's not smart to put all your eggs in one basket. Not playing to dominate your opponent hurts us in a variety of ways.

1) We don't know how to put teams a way.
2) We don't get Lee valuable reps. Something last year we needed (see Alabama).

The bottom line is Miles is doing what is best for this football team. It is a tough call (but the right one) to stick with JJ, because it shows Miles is committed to him. The football team needs continuity, especially in the QB position.

do you see the irony? no, i don't think miles is stupid. but i laid it out so that it is understandable why people think he is stupid. he pretty much has painted himself into the corner. may be more bad luck than anything else. who knew JJ would regress, especially since the running game and defense should be taking pressure off?

it really wasn't stupid for miles to think he could rely on him. if he doesn't get Lee into the game for a quarter + this weekend, the only way we see him is if our won-loss record takes a nose dive. OUCh!

P.S. If he loses 4 games in the SEC he is gone

i'm pretty sure he's back next year. too much potential to change horses in midstream. i think it's safe to say Crowton would be gone and we'd better get that junior college transfer QB.

I think, if possible, they need to relax JJ and convince him to have fun.

If Les would tell the media this is what he is committed to doing, then fans probably wouldn't beat up on him so bad.

I know he doesn't want to reveal much about his strategy, etc. but he is misleading the fans in the process, suggesting every week that he wants JL to play more.

Nice, elementary response. You aren't sure what to say, so you resort to emoticons.

No - we cannot afford to fire him. Miles has us by the short hairs.
And we never know who Alleva will replace him with.
It could be another Hallman or DiNardo disaster risk.
