I'm about to start attempting to lose weight. I'm walking around at 275ish, 6'0". I don't really have a goal weight.

My plan of attack: breakfast and lunch shakes/smoothies or whatever and I am going to do couch to 5k. This will probably save me money also.

I'm not really interested in dropping the money on some of these prepared shake mixtures. I am looking for a good base for breakfast/lunch shakes. Most of these will be the strawberry/banana varieties. Can someone give me the base ingredients? I've read something along the lines of (1) soy milk or skim milk, (2) flax oil, (3) whey protein and (4) fruit. Does this sound about right?

Second day in a row of weighing in at lowest number I have seen so far. Yay!

I am having my go to smoothie this morning- whey protein, unsweetened almond milk (30 Cal per cup), plain Greek yogurt, one banana, 4-5 strawberries and a big handful of spinach. I take flax oil capsules.

Tip: Pre-portion your meals in tupperware for grab-and-go meals; helps tremendously.

I'm no pro, but this is my go-to:

cup or so skim milk
scoop chocolate whey
ice
banana

First day back in gym since Tuesday

303/219.2/200

So taking almost a week off and eating/drinking didn't kill me too bad. I put on 5lbs over that time and felt sluggish today at the gym

When I make a homemade shake I do

2 scoops whey protein (usually malt chocolate by gold standard)
1 cup plain Greek yogurt
1 ripe banana
1 cup unsweetened almond milk

Then I blend it up, fills me up decently....

I've also started taking fruit and cutting it and then acing it in oven on a low temp to dry it out. Those making me fruit chips to snack on

This is what I'm leaning to, but with vanilla protein. I may get some small containers of protein tonight - one chocolate and one vanilla. I'm not a huge of chocolate but love it in certain items like frosties or chocolate covered almonds.

Thx for the recipe here too. I am going to research the different kinds of milk and maybe even try them out over a few weeks.

What's the slash line here denote?

Almond is the way to go. You really don't need to go two scoops of protein though. I wouldn't go over 1 1/2 but to each his own.

I did a little research and it looks like skim milk or 1% would be ok, and we happen to buy 1% in my house anyway. I am going to see how it works and may switch over to Almond. I did not realize that lower fat milk has more carbs than whole.

I think my breakfast tomorrow will be 1 scoop vanilla whey, 1 banana, 4 frozen strawberries, 1 cup of milk, 5 ice cubes. Will obviously adjust this to get the correct serving size, but I think the above for breakfast and something similar for lunch should get me to 5:30/6pm each day.

I don't see much reason to do 2 scoops at this point. I'm not taking the shake for body building purposes, just appetite suppression and to get my metabolism going in the AM. I've never been a breakfast eater -- maybe 3-4 times a month at most.

Set a goal:
235 (10 lbs each month) by the end of the year. Until I get down to 235, I'll be restricting my diet and doing cardio only with the exception I may do 100 pushup challenge after a few weeks. I always weigh my self first thing in the AM to make me feel better about myself. I'll post the slash line tomorrow after someone tells me what all the figures are. I'm assuming its starting weight/current weight/goal?

It's starting weight/current weight/goal

Don't be one of the people that think because you take another scoop of protein you're trying to bulk up. Wrong. If you go back and follow my 3 month results it actually took more protein for me to lose more weight. Protein powder is just another medium of getting nutrients into your body. What's wrong with 2 scoops?

I'm starting 4 scoops of protein powder a day (about 90g of protein) in my goal for 120-130g a day. Hope this works as I cut back my drinking now that holiday and opening weekend is over
