No weight loss today. Had too much food yesterday, even though it was all low carb.

Crispy chicken skin is the devil.

Down 7 lbs (total) after having friends for dinner Friday, lunch out Saturday, people over for the game Saturday night, and a day of hubs and I watching soccer and football yesterday. Even with all this I lost another pound this weekend. I am very happy with my choices and portion control!

Nice.

I was wondering when you were going to change your avatar, but I still hope you go back to the winter squirrel once it gets colder.

3 days in a row at or near 3000 mg sodium. Blowfish mode.
Cals only 1600/day and carbs were 100 or less.

I am looking to loose 25-30 pounds. I have little time for the gym or runs/cycling anymore beside for the weekends.

Thats too bad, because best way to lose weight quick is running about 20 miles/week. I lost 20 lbs in 3 months doing that.

Do I need a diet or what? What diet?
just be a bit more active. burn more calories than you consume...a deficit of 500 calories per day is recommended for losing 1 lb/week. (i eat snickers bars and blue bell multiple times per week)
quote:

Completely cut carbs?
Hell no, though it probably wouldn't hurt to cut some carbs (maybe eat 200g or less per day).
quote:

Only eat chicken and fish?
of course not. just find out how many calories you need to maintain your physical activities and then eat 500 less than that number.

Concerning weight loss and body composition it really does not matter what you eat, only how much. burn more than you consume...its that simple

Also, I've learned that there is absolutely no reason to drink anything but water, tea, or black coffee (excluding the occasional beer night)

That's all about personal preference, really.. Dieting properly is a much more efficient way to lose weight, whether you want to cut carbs or not. I personally am not a proponent of the "eat whatever you want as long as you don't eat a lot of it" camp.. I say it's much better long-term to eat healthy foods most of the time with a splurge once a week or so. Exercise is also a great part of a healthy lifestyle, but 20 miles/week is a bit more than really necessary, imo. Walking 20 miles/week would be fine exercise as well, and less stressful on your body.

true enough, but it is effective. Falling in love with running has certainly been good for me.

good luck the rest of the way

If you love running, run! Same goes for anyone. I really, really hate it. Hate cardio in general, just miserable the whole time and I don't get that "runner's high" that so many people speak of.
