His arm, or his ability to throw a beautiful spiral are not the problem. His problem is his ability to play the quarter back position, to read defenses, find and anticipate where the open receiver is going to be and to then execute the pass. In short, he is indecisive and has a slow delivery.

In 2008 JJ was a slender athlete who could outrun a defense and his legs were his greatest asset. In 2009 he added 20-30 lbs, lost his elusiveness and was relegated to being a pure drop back QB, which was never his strength.

By retrospect, the only two times we've seen Lee this year he has shown his ability to be decisive on where the ball is going and to get it there quickly. There is no wasted time or motion.

Lee may NOT prove to be a better QB, he may prove to make worse decisions than JJ even if he can make them quicker, but JJ's play has been nothing short of sub-average, which is no different from last year.

Les' decision back in 2009 to shelve Lee for JJ may come back to haunt his career at LSU. He gave up on a kid who was a straight up gunslinger for an athletic QB who ended up gaining weight, lost his athletic ability and who isn't as good of a passer as the first guy.

But don't worry, because the guy coaching them up is the same guy who insisted we give a scholarship to Andrew Hatch.

No way Crowton comes back in 2011.

No appropriate coaching = the kinds of results we are seeing.

and he looks like a newborn horse or as my friend says a "baby giraffe" when he tries to run the ball... off balance after his second step.

I said he threw a beautiful ball - I didn't say it was always on target. You need to read more, post less.

i agree that sticking with JJ might be the death knoll for les miles at LSU. the fans are pretty damn restless. no way the university powers can continue to accept the status quo for much longer. i think miles is safe for one more year if we win 9 games and maybe even 8. but if our team self destructs along the way and miles loses them, i think his decision to stick with JJ no matter what will sink him.

To be fair, he underthrows primarily because he takes so fricking long to get rid of the ball.

LOL. Not that that is a good thing.

And in college, more so than the pros, accuracy is more important than arm strength. You are right, in that JJ simply has not improved in his ability to read the defense, or his reveivers. Quite simply, what you saw last night is the JJ you will see the rest of the year. It is time to realize he has not improved, & probably will not for the remainder of his career. It actually appears he has gotten worse. Granted, he will have some decent games, will make the occasional good completion, but his overall leadership, presence in the pocket is what it is...not very good...

bullshite

Jeffersons arm is extremely overrated by this board...he has a slightly above average arm, he can't make all the throws, and he makes it worse by having a molasses slow delivery
