For at least the last three years there has been considerable discussion about dis satisfaction with SEC officiating on the boards throughout the conference. Prior to the growth of these sites, that type of discussion was word of mouth and really never went anywhere. For the last two years, the criticism seemed widespread and on the verge of becoming "organized" in some way.
The meat of the SEC schedule starts now, with Arkansas and Alabama this week.
In fact, every week Alabama plays an SEC game, the issue will be lurking.
For those of us who are cynics, do we dare believe the SEC officiating will be bettter this year?

I don't think so. I've seen too many bad calls so far. It's just a shame that we're the best conference in the nation and have shitty refs

How would you like to be an Arkansas fan this week, watching a close game with Alabama?

Refs always cheat in the state of Alabama..A lot of evidence to prove it too..

Who is the ref from the Alabama game last year the one who looks like he just took a hit of meth. If he is the ref for Auburn or Bama when we play them we are screwed.

This problem with officiating has two aspects, with one dealing simply with competence and the other dealing with favoritism.
As to the latter, one can draw concentric circles of distance from the SEC offices in Birmingham, and draw your own conclusions about the calls...

I haven't been keeping track, but has Bama been called for offensive holding yet this year?

I thought they had a holding call the first week? I could be wrong.

SEC games become so close, that a few plays decide it.
Officiating gets magnified at that point and the close calls become more evident when possessions mean so much.

The SEC and the SEC refs are simply dishonest. They are only honest when Alabama does not need their help. When Alabama is threatened with going down more than 7 points or are in danger of losing they will make certain Alabama does not lose.

So when's the last time Alabama has been called for offensive holding by an SEC crew?

After the PP no-interception call from 2009, I no longer stop in Alabama to purchase gass or food when driving the stretch of I-20/59 between Meridian, Ms. and Georgia line. It's my way of retaliation for that obvious preferential call for Bama.
