What "new things" are you doing this year to bag a trophy buck?

Personally I'm relying more on trail cams and allowing my herds to settle into areas, and not pressuring their sanctuaries until late season. Also my goal is to focus more on one individual 150" buck, instead of just hunting an area or the habitat. Less of a "buck shot approach" where you just hop stand to stand. I feel by pursuing one individual buck, I'll have a better chance of harvesting him.

Also, I've upgraded all my lock-ons and moved a lot of my stands further towards the bedding areas. I think by using better scent gear, I'll get closer this year and be able to harvest a serious trophy before the rut. Also, I'm definitely going to take all my does within the first 3 weeks of season.

Anyone got new gear or a new attractant or "x-factor" they thing will put them over the hump this year?

Leaving on Friday for MO bow season to hunt in St Louis on property that no one has hunted for the last 4 years. There have been several big 12 pts caught on cam this year and there is a report of a 22pt on cam that I would love to see but I am not believing it till I do.

Given the fact you know how to hunt....if this property is south of St Louis on the river you will see a monster. Good luck

Border Crossings Deer Heard in a Stick for a cover scent. I put this stuff on my boots before walking into my hunting area and I hit several trees with it before I make my way up into the stand.

Every Bow hunter should be using this stuff. Best cover scent I have tried to date.

I am also trying out some Rice Bran on my TX deer will find out this weekend if they have been eating it.

Not sure yet, but I have to do something different. been doing the same thing for a long time and have only gotten one shot off. Really depressing.

IMO you don't have to have that "new thing" to kill a trophy buck.

One you have to have them there to start with and two if you can find the funnel areas and hunt them you will kill one.

Having said this I got in a new club this year that has a 6 point or better rule. I have found several great spots to hunt and saw plenty of sign so I will just have to wait til season gets here to find out if I can kill one.

Any cover scent smells like human plus whatever cover sent you're using. Better yet once the deer associate that cover scent to human it's as good as human scent. Best bet, smell like nothing the best you can and hunt the wind. OP sounds like he's gettin all pumped up to over pressure some deer. Remember what you've seen in years past, pick your best spot and be there the best 2-3 days you can be there. V

Pressure is a big thing to me. Once those deer start knowing you are in the area you can just about call it quits for that area. In my experience, jump a big buck once and you will usually never see him again. At least not for a while. This is espcially true with bowhunting when you have to set up close to them.

Deer are simple. They don't like you. If they know you are at the party they aren't going to be there. If you go to that party a couple of times, they are going to know you are going to be there and they avoid it.

As far as cover scent, you ever walked into a bathroom someone just took a big shite in and sprayed some lysol? It smells like shite and lysol. You aren't fooling anyone. There's a reason only a few guys consistently kill the big ones. They don't smell like shite and lysol.
