He may know HOW to run the option better than JJ, but he doesn't actually run it effectively.

Dude is slow.

I think the option to the short-side was actually designed for Lee, with his speed, so I'm thinking .........TD,baby! Finally we'll have the QB this offense was designed for.

Except the defense doesn't have to worry about JL keeping the ball because he isn't a threat to run. Hence, he will inevitably pitch the ball every time to the trailing back. If I'm a defensive coordinator I know who I would rather scheme against.

since JJ has never cut inside the contain man, whether he pitches, or not, is really irrelevant. The D can nail him or the back without any problem if they have the play covered. When Lee has run the "option" he has pitched early, so in effect the play is really more of a toss sweep, it just looks like the option.

Too bad you missed the NC game where he did on several occasions.

I agree that play should be added to the package of plays that RS runs.

"never" was hyperbole...I should have said "seldom", but I don't really recall any great option moves in the NC game. He did have some nice zone read runs in that game.

He definitely looked noticeably thinner to me when he got in against Vandy. If it helps his performance in any way, I'm all for it!
